I have an error that I have never encountered before (dyanzip error, error creating output file, problem extracting files). The last backup was to an 'cloud' called OneDrive and it appears to be a .sqz file.

when I attempt to restore from this backup, I get this error. I looked back at older post and followed the suggestions that were given with no results. I tried to attach this file, but was not able to due to it's size. I've been using TMG for a 'gazillion' years and I just can't survive without this backup. PLEASE HELP.

I am not sure if this forum is even active or not, but here goes. The only version of TMG I have is V4.0. I tried to download the V8, but the link does not work.

A shame to see this software is not supported any longer.

I have TMG 4.0 installed on my windows 10 computer, but when I run it, I get the message "A change has been made to CONFIG.FPW in order to accommodate TMG's support for international code pages.. You must restart TMG how in order for this update process to take effect. Thank You.". After restarting, I get the same message over and over. After a little research, I have figured out that this is the FOXPRO config file.

How can I stop this message from coming up?

	Thanks.

I need to add a image that resides in the PICTURES folder to this event and for the life of me I can't make it happen. The principle's image shows up fine. But I can't figure out what to do to get this group image to show up.
I have it working elswhere but I don't know what I did years ago.

	Hi Jim –

Ran into an odd one today. I decided to open an old project that I had not used in a long time (version 6 !!). I wen to import it into v9 and could not find a backup, but did find the project on an old external drive. Then I had to install v6 to make a backup which then imported fine. Since I now did not need to keep v6 on my system, I tried uninstalling it. That seemed to go well for about 30 seconds and I got the message that the Install.log could not be found.

I know I can use Windows Explorer to delete the folders and files of v6, but Windows Registry still has the entries. Do you know a way to re-create the Install.log or get around that lack. I think I know at least one place in the registry, but I’m leery of deleting entries about which I’m not sure. I’d rather just let the UNWISE program do the work, but it needs the Install.log.

	Any ideas?

I have TMG 7.0 Gold. Is there a report that will compare 2 projects and then give you names that are in one project but not the other? I'm trying to figure out the differences between two files that I've lost track of what I was doing with each. They are for the same family line. Each has about 2400 people in it and one has about 30 people more than the other.

I received a disk made around 2000 with my husband's family data in a .sqz file. The uncle who originally did the research has passed on, as has his wife, so I don't know what genealogy program they used to compile and compress the information, I'm assuming TMG.

I first downloaded Sorenson Squeeze (which I understand is the source of the .sqz format) but was unable to open the file. I then found this site, and saw a post that said .sqz data could be accessed by "restoring" it in TMG. So, I downloaded the trial version of TMG (I have all my info in FTM) and tried restoring from TMG earlier versions but it tells me it can't find the .tmg file and it just keeps processing.

I'm stuck. What do I do now?

Thanks for any suggestions!

Hi, I realize this is in the test board but I can't seem to find a way to start the topic in any other area.

I'm wondering if someone can help me out. I have an install of TMG v7 on a Windows 7 machine that I have two questions about.

1. I assume because we never paid for a version 8 or 9 update I have no way to upgrade to version 9? If that is correct no worries just please advise.

2. The real question. I've been attempting to run the Individual Detail report and have been getting inconsistient results. The most general problem is that the subject of the report shows up with "unknown name" in the top and generally, the father and mother fields are blank. In the person record these are populated as you would expect. I now find this happens with just about anybody in the list, not just the person I'm working with. Those reports have worked fine in the past. I've also verified that the reports work fine on another install of the same software on another machine. I've also verified that other reports work fine. I've tried restoring from a backup into a new file with no luck. I've also tried repairing the install also with no luck. Does anyone have any advice?

Thanks,

I've not been a very active genealogist for the last few years, and have not upgraded to the latest versions of TMG. After a disc crash, I've not even been able to reinstall my current version (7.04). Now I'm looking for help to restore my database, which is stored in a TMG 7.04 backup file, and guess I have to have it converted to Gedcom before importing it to a new program (probably Legacy). I would be very grateful if someone could help me out on this. In return, I'll gladly help you with tracing Norwegian ancestors.

Hello!

I been saving old HDD's from my dads old computer, he was into genealogy and I know he came quite far.

In his HDD I found this folder: The Master Genealogist

I am unsure if he truly used this application or not, he got another genealogy application in there as well.

How can I open his tree up and view it? (if he created one in TMG)

I see there is also a BACKUP folder with things in it - but looks more like an install backup.

some files got created in 2000, others been used 2002 and last 2003 (error log among other).

I don't see an install application - I see a: goweb.exe app ... but didn't seem to do anything.

Found an INSTALL log: tmg5setup.exe seems to be the one that he used last to install. (2002)

I would love to get this data that he has created, is there anyone that might know how to do this?

I can't even find a download button on this site to download the last version (full release) to see if an import might work.

Hoping someone might be able to help me out!

Thank you so much!
