It appeared to happen when I u/g to 6.04. It changed back no problem in File, Preferences, Advanced and hasn't happened again.

What version have you installed on each pc? If you have had the program a while could it be version 5 and the key you are using is a version 6 key?

Are you using the same name and email address that you used to obtain the full key? Rather than type the serial number in can you copy and paste it from the email you received?

Simon, Have yo tried rebrowsing in your backup location in File, Preferences, Advanced, Backups? When I upgraded the backup location had changed completely. Browsing it back in might fix.

John, Not something I do but an option which some people use is to create the group as a person. so you have a person called Longshoreman's Union. In a tag such as member, you make the person, John Moran, Principal 1 and the group, Longshoremans Union, Principal 2. Looking at Longshoremans Union you will get a series of tags linked to all the people. It can be used for businesses and buildings as well.

From the left hand menu expand Events. Select Change Event Type. On the right choose the tag type you want to get rid of e.g Milt Beg Choose the tag type you want it to become e.g. Milt Serv This will change all Milt Beg tags to Milt Serv. You can set a Flag Filter so it only changes for a certain group. Make use of the Log Only option to see what effect the change would have. This will show you what would be changed. Once you've changed them you can then delete your redundant Tag e.g Milt Beg in this example.

Peggy, If you go to File, Preferences, Data entry is the Data entry Mode Basic or Advanced? Basic entry gives no Witnesses or roles only Principals. Advanced gives all the functions.

Peggy, Do you get the drop down roles on Principal 1 and 2? Or just when you select Add Witness?

i think i am right that TMg interprests what you have input to the format you want if it disagrees. So you want dd/mmm/yyyy ie. day, month year. When you type in 6-3-1905 TMG looks at it and says day first i.e. 6 month next, 3 so that is Mar and then year 1905 and arrives at 6 Mar 1905. If you were to type in 6-23-1905 then TMG would say there is no 23rd month therefore would reverse the day and month to produce 23 Jun 1905. To ensure the month is always correct then either type in d-m-yyyy or d mmm yyyy.

Gillian, Yes it is possible. BACKUP YOUR PROJECT FIRST. Open the Sample Data base and run a List of People for one person. On secondary Output in Options create a new project. This will give a project with all the source type and elements with only one person. Open your project. Select File, Merge Project. your project is A. set the new project as B and select merge B to A This will put 2 data sets in your project. Open File, Data Set Manager. Data set 1 should be higlighted and will be your data set. Select Merge. A will be data set 1 (your set) and B will be Data set 2. Merge B to A. Delete Data Set 2 Delete the person merge in from the Sample Data base and you should find all the source type and elements in your project. Someone may come up with an easier way to do it.

Lorna, I had a similar thing once I had changed my password. the next time I returned to the site I had to log in again and got a Windows prompt that the password stored was different to the one I used and did I want to change it. Could be connected to that.
