Well Duh!!!! I've been going at this way too long; now MY motherboard (aka brain) is fried! You're both absolutely correct; I DO have 7.01 installed! I think I was expecting 7.02 which had been mentioned on the TMG-list. I had it in my mind, incorrectly, that 7.02 was available and then when I went to download my brain hiccupped. I am trying very hard to wrap my head around Vista 64-bit (I am the family and neighborhood/friend trail blazer on this). I get the impression, so far, that the SP1 has fixed a lot of the objections people have talked about. With this release, any 32-bit program that is less than 6 or 7 years old will supposedly work except for certain utilities and anti-virus. I've had no problems bringing in all of my data from XP and have hooked up my 4 year old Epson printer without any modifications. And my on-line anti-virus software upgraded and downloaded flawlessly. I did have to have my ISP bring me a new cable modem as the new PC demands ethernet connection, not usb. Still have to install the scanner but have learned there is a 64-bit Vista driver available for it. FWIW, I did install some older WIN98 software on my daughter's Vista 32 bit system under the Compatibility mode, and it works perfectly, as well as an old Windows 95 calendering/appt. program she uses for business. TMG is the first software I've installed, so I can't speak for other programs yet. Haven't tried it yet but hear that some of the reports can't be produced in some software (yet?). Next, I'm going to install SS2, keeping my fingers crossed. And then I'll try Photoshop Elements 3 which I strongly suspect will give me a problem based on what I've read on various newsgroups. May have to upgrade to PSE6. Still haven't decided whether to put Office 97 (with Access) on it, bite the bullet and spring for Office Professional at ~$800 (!!!! Office 97 was "included" on one of my older PCs!) to get Access which I do use, or give the free Open Office a try, which reads Word and Excel files, but I don't think it will import Access databases into its fairly new database feature. Am leaning on trying old Office 97 first. But in a nutshell, so far 64 bit is sooooo nice. Don't know whether it's Vista, the new computer (Intel Quad Processor), or the 4g of RAM, but this thing is awesomely fast! Vista is a bit confusing in file navigation but I hear that if I just keep my data stuff in the Owner's folder, I'll be just fine. Definitely do NOT like it's searching mechanism though.....so far. Hi Jim, I am having the same problem as Craig. My old XP system had a failed motherboard so bought a new Vista 64 bit PC. Went to the download site and successfully downloaded TMG7.0. But when I went to "Check for Update" I got this same message. I also tried going directly to the TMG website and tried downloading from there and got the same message. Pleeeezzz tell me there's a fix! Am having TMG withdrawal pains. Kathy Tabb

OK, I give up. What is "[OBJ]" in your sentences? I figure it's a role name but what does it mean??? Kathy
  4. Flag value won't change

Thanks so much Cheryl!!!! I unlinked the PE, went back to my original Focus Group, added back in the accents, worked on the file for about 6 hours today and did not have any problems at all!!! This makes it so much easier to edit the file for SecondSite.
  5. Also posted to the TMG list, sure hope someone can help.... I looked in the TMG list Archives and found this discussed in January. Also found a similar problem posted here in 2005. Linda had suggested a workaround for flags not being changed: to right click on the person, click on edit name tag, OK, then the focus changes (for me) to a blank person screen. When I "go back" by clicking on the round arrow at the top of the menu, I get some other person. I finally get back to the person I wanted, but when I try to change my Cleaned flag from N to Y, it still won't take. This just started recently after doing several hours of work, cleaning up from a focus group of about 6500 names. I've done maint. routines from the menu. I've closed the file and re-opened it, and it works for one or two edits, then the flag freezes up again. I'm running TMG's version 6.12 under XP2. Project Explorer is CLOSED. Open windows are the Details Screen, siblings, children, flags, and Focus Group. Is there a fix? Or one in the works? Suggestions? Kathy Tabb
  6. Yeah but... instead of using an alternate language which would force anyone that doesn't want to have this sentence appear in the report, to learn how to use alternate languages and concern themselves with the custom tags, sentences and what-have-you, wouldn't it be simpler to ask the developers to make it an optional sentence like they did with other things like the prepositions for locations? Then it becomes a very easy thing to choose. Of course I know nothing about the details of programming this requested option, but would think it is a lot easier for an experienced programmer to do this, than having users totally frustrate themselves trying to figure out language changes. Kathy
  7. I hope that lots and lots of us will add to this message in order to emphasize the need for this change, in the hope that the decision makers at Wholly Genes will take action. I've spent hours and hours trying to figure an easy way to eliminate that sentence without resorting to another language. It really should be an option as so many other elements of TMG are.
  8. In the Journal, and probably other, Reports, when no children have been entered in a marriage, the report automatically generates a sentence about there being no children. This may or may not be true. Often times, I do not include children of distant relations, but do make a tag for Number of Children, and do name them in that tag. But then the "no children" sentence is still generated. I have tried making "dummy" children but it's messy and distorts the indexes. Instead of arbitrarily adding this sentence, would the developers consider making it an optional one? Like, 1) There were no known children of..."; 2) Any known children have not been included in this database...; 3) User defined....
