Thanks Teresa - have tried this numerous times, both before and after your reply, as follows: <[Addressee], ><[Detail], >in <[City], ><[County], ><[state], >. But I keep getting the narrative report outputting "at in City". The "at" is still there, preceding the "is". Interestingly, when I use the new Place Style with a tag, the tag preview sentence does not have the "at". I obviously am doing something wrong. Teresa - forgot to mention that when I add the "in" to the template I get the message "The output template includes text that is not within square brackets [like this] to designate it as a field label. Are you sure that you want to save this template?". I check Yes and the new Place Style is created. Tom

I am having trouble finishing a custom source template. Can a [CD] be inserted in the BB part of the template? If not, why not? Tom

In the past, whenever I ran Individual Narrative Previews (either with or without sources) I would get a message asking me if I wanted to clear out the existing endnotes - to which I usually said yes, otherwise the endnotes would be for a prior person Individual Narrative, not the person data I was working on. Today I ran Individual Narrative Previews and the message (to clear the endnotes) did not appear and every time I run Report - Endnotes I get the endnotes for a person I have not worked on lately. I've run Individual Narrative Preview, Individual Narrative Preview with sources, and Individual Narrative from the Report window numerous times but I can't get the old endnotes cleared. Is there another way to clear the endnotes? Tom Malek

For the Wholly Genes Community site Bob Velke is listed as "Member No.: 2". I would have thought he would have been Member No. 1. So who is No. 1? Tom

On the Exhibit Log you can change the Focus to "General topics Exhibits." When I select that option all of my exhibits disappear and only the gray area remains. The Master Genealogist User Guide (v5.x for Windows) refers to "General Topic Exhibits" on pages 115 and 184 but gives no explanation as to the nature of such exhibits. Nor could I find any info on such exhibits in the TMG (v 6) program Help Topics. What are General Topic Exhibits? Tom Malek

Thanks. Glad you added reason why new might want to use this. Tom

My photos are external. I recently upgraded to XP and for some reason (at least unknown to me) the photos now show up in a different pathway (instead of C:\Windows\Desktop...., they now reside in C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Desktop..... Now when I open TMG the photos still show up in the PV but in the Exhibit Log, under Properties\Info, it states for example "File C:\WINDOWS\DESKTOP\PHOTO FILE\GENEALOGY\MALEK\TN_JOHN1946.JPG not found" which, of course, it can't be found because the pathway was changed with the XP installation. I have thought about setting up new folders in C:\Windows and then transferring the photos to them so that they would then reside in C:\Windows\Desktop.... (the old pathway) but in looking at the C:\Windows directory it appears that it is a very "technically" oriented directory with a lot of applications, drivers, etc and, having limited technical experience, I hesitate to "fool around" and experiment with changes. I would like to avoid reentering each of the hundreds of photos. Is there a way to have TMG recognize the new pathway? Tom Malek

Barbara - Thanks so much for your recommendation. I did as you suggested in your steps b. and c. (below) and listed 2 of my C:\ drive folders where I knew photos were located that had been entered in TMG as exhibits. Then I ran Validate File Integrity (VFI). Then I went back to TMG to check the exhibit log for one of the photos that I knew TMG had previously listed as “not found”. Sure enough the “not found” is gone and the new path (created when I installed XP) is now shown. This has been a learning experience and in the process I discovered that I also had added photos to TMG that resided in a total of 4 different folders on my C:\ drive. Looks like I lacked consistency of method. Now for more questions. First: Are the changes made by running VFI permanent (I don’t have to run it each time I open TMG)? Second: If I take all of the photos in my 4 separate C:\ drive files, and combine them into one new file, and then do your recommended b. and c. with the new file being entered into the List of Folders window, and then run VFI, will I have accomplished what my original question raised, i.e., “Is there a way to have TMG recognize the new pathway?” so that I don’t have to reenter all of the photos? Third: Do any of these matters impact on / have a negative effect on the use of Second Site? Fourth: You said, with respect to the List of Folders, that new folders may be moved “[up] or [Down] in the list of folders”. Just out of curiosity, what purpose would be served by doing that? Under what circumstances would one want to do that? Thanks again. Tom Malek

I have recently taken a number of photos of headstones that I would like to add to the corresponding burial Tag. I am going to resize the photos but thought I would first ask the members what would be the best size to resize to for TMG 6 purposes? For Second Site purposes? Tom Malek

Was using TMG 6.07 (main project) when computer froze. Needed to shut the system down. Rebooted and tried to open TMG in my main project but kept getting message "An error happened when opening the data tables". Decided to open another project I had called "test". That opened and then I closed it and again tried to open the main project and now get the message "The project is in use elsewhere. Please select another project". Would appreciate any suggestions for opening my main project.

It did not work Virginia. I'm still getting the same messages. But maybe I didn't do it correctly. In my project folder are 2 projects. I deleted the .cdx files for the project that won't open but I did not delete the .cdx files for the other project. Should I have deleted all the .cdx files for both projects? Tom

I like this feature. But one issue. In the backup Wizard, Step 2:Data, there are 2 options - "date & time" and "backup number". I have been using the "backup number" option but I have to select it every time I backup. The "date & time" option appears to be the default and it is also used in conjunction with the custom button. Is there a way to make the "backup number" option the default so that it can be used by the custom button? Tom Malek

Running 6.07. Attempted to use (my first time) the Place Database function (Web-->Place Databases--->"x Country"). Clicking on each of the 4 countries (Canada, UK, Scotland, and US) came up with a message that the web sites could not be found. Any suggestions? Tom

Problem solved. Lorna Henderson had solution: "For Firefox, I had to uncheck File>Preference>Options>Program Options>Other>Send URLs to browser with backslashes". Thanks Lorna. Tom
