  1. Another odd report question.

Terry, thanks so much! I thought I had everything selected needed, but apparently missed that. It's working now, thanks! As for the sort, I'll give that a shot, and see what I can do to get those in the right order. Eventually everything will be in one Microsoft Word document so I can use the indexing option with word. I really appreciate the advice.
  2. I have a problem that I can't figure out with reports. I'm creating my own book, using the Journal report, a descendant's chart for quick reference, and family group sheets. Each person has a photo accompanying their information. Yet when I create the report, the wive's photos don't show up. In fact, the wive's information don't show up in the journal report beyond the quick marriage. How do I get their information to combine? Or do I have to create a seperate report for her, then copy/paste it into the document? One day they'll create reports the way we need them, but until then, I guess we have to work with them. Also, I can't have it just create family group sheets in descendant's order, so I have to create them one at a time and copy/paste them in where I want them. Any suggestions on how to do that easier? When completed, this project should be well over 100 pages, and I have 30 more days to complete this, so looking for the easiest way to do this the fastest. I still have to edit the entire work to make sure the journal report is merging the data the way I want, and I can't really print this and get it ready to go until a few days before the reunion, due to updates coming in almost on a daily basis, so ease of use is very important here.
  3. Making family reunion nametags

They were standard size nametags (3X4), and you print to the printer, using nametag printing sheets. No need to cut, except it prints them all for a focus-like group, and it'll be easier to put them in alphabetical order after they print for when arrivals look for them. Also, any idea how to get journal to format the photos on the left instead of centered? I thought I saw something about formatting it yourself, now I can't find it.
  4. I'm back! Wow, See, I haven't used TMG for a very long time, because the change from windows 3.1 to vista didn't go well for me. IT's that online upgrading - I lost my license key and couldn't find it. But, I'm back with the new version 8, installed fresh just this week. I'm working on a major family reunion project right now. A 4, sometimes 5, generation descendant chart including 103 people (yes, hard to believe one line has that many people). Anyway, these people are all still alive, but a few here and there, and we are having a family reunion. During my "disappearance" I used another program that has a report for "Name tags" in which I can have their photo, name, relationship to the main person, and who their spouse and parents are. It makes for the PERFECT reunion nametag when there are that many people. Anyway, does anyone know if TMG has a similar program? or do I have to keep the old program UPDATED until this reunion is over? I hate using multiple programs and would love to use just TMG. The project consists of: Descendant Narrative - edited to book form (I returned cuz I can't edit the documents on the other program) A Descendant Wall Chart Nametags Family group forms to be filled out for anyone missing. Anyway, thanks in advance for any suggestions. TeresaR - and glad to be back.
  5. Version 4 to a Vista Machine

Jim, So you are saying, because my computer crashed, and I have backup and everything, that it's impossible to recover the data? I have 15 yrs of work to recover. Sure, I have a gedcom, but I've noticed gedcom's by TMG seem to lose things like notes, pictures, and source data. I don't relish redoing 15 years of work. Especially since I HAD upgraded before, but just don't have the disks. The only DISKS I have are 4.0. I'm pretty sure it's 6.0 I USED to have. I updated that about 4 or 5 years ago, via internet. But when the hard disk crashed, I lost that downloaded upgrade. I can get to the files, just don't know how to get it on to the vista machine so it "RUNS". **Update. I HAD 6.1.0.0 per the files on my computer, installed it looks like January 2006. If I knew what the filename of the original download was, I might get lucky and have that too, but running a search for all executables doesn't seem to be helping me recognize it.
  6. Version 4 to a Vista Machine

Hello, I too have been trying to get my system upgraded. I'm pretty sure I upgraded via internet download from version 4 to either 5 or 6, but don't remember which. I tried to email someone, to see how to do t his the right way without inadvertently wiping my data, but nobody has responded as of yet (it's been more than a week). So If i purchase the new version 7, do I simply install it without worries, or will it wipe out the data beneath it from the previous data set? Do I need to install it in a different directory so as to NOT lose my data? My harddrive crashed on my previous system, and we were technically able to recover, but when I went to setup 4, it of course will not run on vista, so I need to knwo the next step. Also, do I have to pay the full version price for 7? Or is there an upgrade price? I do not have my license number any longer, which is frustrating. I have the CD, but not the license. I Remember when I upgraded before, emailing and requesting that license and it was provided, but of course with the crash, the license email was lost (i've been keeping it for years in my email files).
