Can you tell us more about your problem? Are you getting a message about a cookie when you try to 'access an account'? If so, does it tell you what cookie it is? Virginia

A Senior Member has posted 100 or more messages. Group Coordinators may also be Senior Members but are identified as coordinators of users groups. Virginia

That is controlled by the options on the righthand end of the message subject bar. The options are Outline, Standard, Linear+. Sounds like you have Outline now - you probably want Standard. Virginia

Doesn't the back arrow on your browser return you to the View New Posts list after you read a topic? Virginia

Logging in with "remember me" set
Virginia Blakelock replied to Lorna Henderson's topic in Site Issues
You're not doing anything wrong. That seems to be the way it works; if you log off you have to log back in. However, there is no real reason to log off and I never do. Even though you don't log off, the forum will remember when you are here and when you leave - and will welcome you back when you next return. Virginia -
If there are specific instance of the x-boxes, I can check to see whether it is a user setting in the AOL browser. Using AOL, I did not see any x-boxes and did notice the small pedigree icons after some names. It is beautiful site. Nice work! Virginia

A forum like this takes a little getting used to. It is not live - like a Chat room where people exchange messages. There is a Chat room but I rarely see people there except when there is a scheduled Wholly Genes chat - like this Saturday night. In a forum, you post questions and other users (or in this forum someone from the Wholly Genes staff) will post answers. If you have a question about TMG5, you would go to that section and click on Post to write your message. You've been communicating just fine so far - so maybe you're more intuitive than you think! You do need to download that Akiva software. It takes a minute or two and then you should get a large blue box with a place for your nickname. Enter a name and then click on Connect. The following is from the newsletter which announced the forum. "When you see the security warning, click on or . Then be patient because it could take 30 seconds or more (especially on a dial-up connection) to load the necessary chat tools. When prompted, simply enter a chat nickname and then click on Connect. That's all there is to it. We hope to see you there!" I just tried it, with IE6 and it worked fine. Virginia

Users do not need to subscribe to a forum in order to post a topic, only if they want to receive e-mail notification. I have discontinued all my subscriptions, finding it much quicker - and less clutter in my mailbox - to occasionally check View New Posts. Virginia

Are there any guidelines for the pixel size of an attachment so that it is comfortably viewable at different screen resolutions? Is 800x600 still the most common resolution? (Member resolution size might make an interesting poll.) Along the same line, how does global space work? If a member exceeds his allotment are his oldest messages purged? Virginia

Although it's been adapted for contemporary internet use as the embodiment of the communicator, it is not a new word and is in the dictionary. One usage is from Hindu mythology, where an avatar is the incarnation of Vishnu. Virginia
