Hello, I jumped the gun on sorting the missing info in the search results. I figured it out. Now that I have set the program/computer to run as an adminstrator; I am guessing that I will not have to re enter my data to unlock the program? - Chris

Recently I re installed TMG on a new laptop. Was working fine. Today I had to re enter my name, email, and serial number again. I had already done this when I re installed on the new laptop the first time. Today I right clicked on the TMG icon and ran as an administrator. Program is working again. However when I go the expanded pick list in search (for a name) I only have the person's name and person id listed. I used to have the person's birth, death, father's name, mother's name, and spouse's name listed. Why did this change? How to I get these fields back?

Everything is going ok with the reload. I'm going from Win 8.1 to Win 10. The way that I installed the program on the new computer was to load my original TMG v.9 disk on the new laptop. Then I loaded TMG v.9.4 update from another disk. And finally I downloaded the v. 9.5 final from this forum. Then I loaded my SQZ file. I have key codes for the original disk and also the 9.4 update. Never was I asked to add the key code. Is this the norm or will I have an issue say 30 days from now? Thanks

Recently I bought a new laptop and I installed TMG v. 9.5 on it. I just made a backup of my TMG files and also created a new GEDCOM file. On my old laptop I had many customizations on TMG. I am looking for everything to transfer over to the new laptop easily including the customizations. Is it possible for the customizations to transfer over? And is there anything specific that I should do to make this change happen smoothly?

Does anyone know how to rearrainge the tag order. My dilema is when viewing an individual in the person view, if the date of death is entered but not a date of burial because it is unknown; the burial tag appears above the death tag. I'm looking to have the burial tag below the the death tag even if the date is unknown.

When viewing an individual in the person view and if you do not have a death event but you have a burial event, is there a way to have the burial year fill in in the above box with the person's NAME (id #) (years of birth & death).

With some of my Dutch ancestors who died in the 1700s, I have a burial date but will never find an actual date of death for them. When I use a baptism event instead of birth, the baptism year populates the year field. I was wondering how would I have the burial event do the same for the death year.

Would anyone know if it is possible to create a report of a list of individuals in a project who do not have a "birth" event in their details window? And also how would this report be created? I have numerous individuals where the date of birth is presently unknown and therefore the birth event was never added to their details screen. With over 7000 individuals in this project, it will be a daunting task to try to determine whom further research is necessary.

I have over 1000 exhibits in my database. The majority of them are external and stored in a specific folder. I believe that I have perhaps 200 exhibits that are internal. As I come across them I have been changing them to external exhibits. Is there a quick/easy way for me to find/search for my exhibits that are still internal?

I have been having a problem with my TMG software for well over a year. No matter what version I'm using at least once a week I have to re-register the program by entering my name, email address, and key number. This happened with the updated version of TMG v.8 then with v.9 and all of 9's updates also. What can I do to correct this?

Yes, simply download the trial version and your data should reappear. I had the same problem today and also last week when I upgraded to version 8.05.

Why is it that when a scan/image is uploaded to a citation it does not show up on that person's exhibit log unless "a citation" is clicked on focus; and then all of the images uploaded as citations appear? Is there a way to upload an image under citation and have that image appear along with all other images in that person's exhibit log?

Thanks Jim, l saw that post but did not understand all of it. I downloaded the trial version on the TMG site. Afterwards I clicked on repair software and all of my projects reappeared and I believe the program is also updated. I did not have to enter the DVD product code. It seems as if everything fell into place.

Upon trying to open TMG earlier a message stating that a TMG update is available was clicked and directions followed. During the download install, another message appeared that said the download failed. After clicking out, my icons and program has disappeared. Backup files, etc. are still in the my documents folder, but I cannot open the program.

I am planning on downloading the trial version of TMG and entering my code number. Does anyone have any thoughts on this?

Finally corrected the problem by changing some of my exhibits from internal to external and by un-checking save exhibits in step 3 of the backup wizard. Thank you- Chris

I gave up on the download because the computer didn't trust it. Disk space should be no problem my laptop that I'm using is three months old with 1 TB of HD space. I wished that the system asked me if I wanted to install the program anyway. Perhaps its Win 8? I'm still getting used to it after using XP for years.

Hello, thank you to everyone who has tried to help me with this. My problem most likely comes from too many exhibits and exhibits that are too large for my project probably caused the error. I downloaded the John Cardinal utility but my computer kept refusing it saying that it was a dangerous file, etc. After disabling my Norton and the computer still would not let me install it. I searched and played around with the program. One by one I will be changing my exhibits from internal to external. On my desktop I created a folder "TMG Exhibits" and changed the path to this folder. This is where I will store all of my exhibits externally. If anyone has any tips or suggestions about this I am open to anything to make the transition easier. Thanks - Chris

I'm a little lost on this. I called the tech number and it appears that I may have maxed out my exhibit space. I have over 1080 images saved internally. I was told to check out John Cardinals tmg utilities and convert my exhibits to external. Thanks and i will letter you know how i make out.
