  1. Wiseupdt.exe

Greetings -- I had to buy a new computer due to a corrupted motherboard in my old one, and I replaced the Windows Vista with Windows 7. I was sucessful in moving my TMG 7 application over to the new system along with all data files, but due to other demands on my time I haven't been able to work on my genealogy in some time. I thought I would see if anything in TMG had been updated, and when I click on "check for updates", I keep getting a message that no application in TMG is associated with the update engine. So I can't check for updates to my TMG 7 anymore. I currently have version 7.03. I get the idea that the update engine that my windows 7 calls is not that found in Windows 7. Are there any workarounds for this? George
  2. Greetings -- I don't participate in this forum all that much, but have owned TMG since the beginning. I have just bought a new PC (not yet delivered) and it will have the VISTA operating system compared to the Windows 98, I am now running. I have the original installation CD v 6.x without upgrades and also have a record of my serial number, and I have the task of installing this on the new hardware and restoring my present files from the present system to the same version on the new installation. My game plan is to do the install from the CD, using my present serial number followed by the upgrades which I will have to take from the internet. Then I will do the restore. Alternatively, I could take the entire TMG folder which includes the upgrades and all the data and move it over to the new computer and just try running from there. My gut tells me this won't work, and the Vista operating system may want to run an actual install through the registry of the new computer. Frankly, I don't have all that much familiarity with Vista, yet. Any thoughts on this? Regards, George
