  1. PDF Printer Not Activated error code 20

Virginia - Jim: You are right on. Noting that both TMG and Quicken was having the same problem. Figured it was the printer driver. I had rebooted earlier and that had no effect. I deleted the printer named anyuni document converter, went back to TMG and then to printer setup under file. Did an install, and can now print using PDF. Thanks for your help.
  2. PDF Printer Not Activated error code 20

Virginia - Yes, checked that out. The amyuni document converter includes the name Wholly Genes PDF Writer v4 and Quicken. The Port is set to "NUL". To check it out went to Quicken set it to Quicken PDF Printer on NUL. Tried to save a file and received the same error code - 20. Strange!!!
  3. Thought my PDF printer problems were a thing of the past. Unfortunately it has reared its head again. Using TMG v8 on Windows 8 on both a desktop and a laptop. The laptop is working fine. All of a sudden cannot get the desktop to recognize a PDF report. Need help. Tried everything I can think of including uninstalling TMG v8, deleting the existing TMG folder under programs, downloading TMG v8 from Wholly Genes site and reinstalling. Does not solve problem. The Wholly Genes PDF Writer v4 does not appear. Under adding a PDF printer do see "amyuni document converter". No idea what this is, and can't find a way to delete. Checked some of the existing topics, but can't find one that addresses my concerns or solve the problem. Would really like to get my PDF report writer working again.
  4. Creating Reports Problems

Couldn't wait. Although error codes appeared when I added the PDF Printer (after making your compatibility mode changes) noticed that the PDF Printer was added to Device and Printer Lists. Made the Port changes, and the report was created in PDF format. If everything holds, I'm in good shape. Thanks.
  5. Creating Reports Problems

Jim, Thanks for the response. I had forgotten about the Word printing problem with 64-bit systems. No problem there - I can wait for v.8. I did make the changes to the compatibility mode listed in your 1 November 2009 instructions. Still could not install the PDF printer. I'll shut everything down and try again tomorrow.
  6. Installed TMG 7 on new computer using Windows 7 64-bit operating system. Thought everything was working fine until......attempting to save report (FGS) to Word for Windows 2000 or later. Receive conversion error #20: Unknown error - contact tech support. Then tried to save report to PDF. All kinds of problems and TMG shuts down. Only related printers showing in "Printer" list is Microsoft XPS Document Writer and Quicken PDF Printer. There is no printer driver showing for TMG. Attempted to Install PDF Printer. A window appears titled "Amyuni Document Converter", followed by another line reading Windows 95/98/Me Install. There are then listed five different error codes. If it's trying to load something for Windows 95/98/Me, doubt that will work. Need to get out some reports - need help.
  7. Attempt to open an image for an event: OLE exception code error: Exception Code c0000005. OLE object may be corrupt. 35 IMAGEVIEWER.RCIMAGEFILE_ASSIGN Attempted to right click for Properties: OLE exception code error: Exception Code c0000005. Will then get error: Microsoft Visual FoxPro has encountered a problem and needs to close. Usually have to CAD to close program. Attempted to open Exhibits by clicking on Icon in Toolbar: Fatal Error: Exception Code+ c0000005 @ 2010.06.20 11:41:15 AM. Error log file: I:\Program Files|The Master Genealogist v7\VFP9Reer.log. Using TMG Gold Edition v7.04000 Using Windows XP Professional Version 5.1.2600 Service Pack 3 Build 2600 Memory 3 GB Problem occurs with no other program open. Currently have over 500 exhibits. About to remove TMG and download a clean copy. But, will this actually solve problem? What are these errors and can they be fixed or are they likely to re-occur?
  8. Update Failure

Just reloaded TMG v7 to a new hardrive and restored saved projects. When checking for a Update from the project receiving the following error: "Exception Processing Message c0000013 Parameters 75b6bf7c 4 75b6bf7c". What is the problem and how is it fixed?
  9. Updated to v7.02 last night and have been working with the program most of today. Earlier thought the Windows Siblings problem had been fixed, but twice today received a fatal error and TMG shutdown. No data was lost. The information I was able to copy is: Fatal Error: Execption Code=C0000005@2008.05.25 10:09:24PM. Error log file: C:\Program Files\The Master Genealogist v7\FP9Rerr.log called from - tmg main line 556 {C:\Program Files\The Master Genealogist v7\tmg\programs\tmgmain.prg C:\program files\the master genealogist v7\tmg7.exe} No problems were reported by VFI. Bob
  10. FoxPro Fatal Error

Twice TMG v7 encountered a fatal error while attempting to edit the birth tag for an individual requiring the program shutdown. The problem occurred when double clicking on the tag. Operating System is Windows XP
  11. Common Ancestor - how to best link

In the child detail display double click on father and/or mother directly below the clild name. On the tag entry screen enter the correct father's ID number. Repeat the process for the mother. Don't have much experience with charts, suspect it kind of depends on where the child fits in the family line. Since you say this is a newly discovered "line", I expect it will make a significant change to any existing charts. However if just a lone child (one person) doubt it would be a major change. However, TMG will simply include the person in the appropriate chart if you are building a new report. Making changes to chart layouts is beyond my skill level. For starters suggest looking at Terry's TMG Tips: http://tmg.reigelridge.com/index.htm. Bob Bennett
  12. Editing Parent or Removing Wrong Parent

Most likely a couple of ways to correct the situation, but here is what I would do: go to the correct father (Person A) and note the ID Number. Then go to each of the children that have the incorrect father assigned, and in the Details window double click on the word father directly below the primary name. On the tag entry screen (Father-Bio) enter the correct ID number in the Parent field. Do that for each of the children, and your should be home free. Suggest you double check the mother to ensure this is correct, also. Hope this solves your problem. If I misunderstood the situation or if you need additional help just sing out. Bob Bennett
  13. Preferred Spouse

While in the Details Window open the marriage that you want displayed. Click OK to close. Windows should remember that marriage and it will appear in subsequent use. This does not impact reports just what you see just wat you see in children and siblings windows. Bob
  14. Spaces Between Sentences

In the Meme field, either before the first paragraph or before the second, right clik and choose <carriage return>. Usually I put in two carriage returns and one <tab>. Hope this is what you are looking for. Bob
  15. connecting siblings to parents

Cavan, With the sibling to which you want to add parents displayed, double click on "Father" (just under her name). Then add the father's ID number in the default block. Click OK, and then do the same for her "Mother". Should be all set. Bob
