Can't back up or restore. Project file seems broken but it works.
gsbrown4 posted a topic in The Master Genealogist v9
My TMG 9.04 is acting strange. When I open TMG I get the welcome page and select my project to open. I get the following error window: "Basic data set_pjc does not appear to be valid PJC file" When I click on OK I get the welcome page again. I click on the X to close it and my project opens. Everything seems to work until I try to backup the project. I go through the back up process to put the backup on a flashdrive. At the end when I think it is done (The widow says backup is complete) I get: The same message as above "Basic data set_pjc does not appear to be valid PJC file" I click OK and I get this: “The Project is in use elsewhere” but it isn’t When I click on OK TMG closes When I reopen it, I get : “Repair mode has bee activated… It works for a while and then my file is opened again And I start the loop all over again When I try to use the backup I have created to restore the file on another computer I get the “The project is in use elsewhere “again. What is wrong? What do I do? -
Tmg v7.04-PDF printer driver and Win7
gsbrown4 replied to Donald Gunn's topic in Older Products and Versions
You opened the "Properties", not the "Printer Properties". Please look at the PDF driver right-click menu carefully and follow the instructions exactly. At the risk of appearing stupid, will someone please tell me where the 18+ step Jim Byram pdf install instructions are!!! -
I know this must be simple but I am having a blind spot. I want to create a list of people in a focus group. I can do that. I then want to move a copy of those peeople with all their data to a new project. What do I do? I tried to export the data but I don't see a an export option for a later version TMG file. Thanks.

I have a problem with my picklist search. I have several William Thacker entries. When I search Thacker using the “surname, given name, birth date” sort option, the Thacker, William (Pulaski) entry appears on the list. When I change the sort option to “surname soundex, given name, birth date”, William (Pulaski) disappears but all the other William and variants remain. Am I missing something or is there a bug in the 7.04 search routine? I have screen images that I can forward if that would help.

Getting multiple (repeating) source citations in Descendant Indented Narrative report.
gsbrown4 replied to gsbrown4's topic in Older Products and Versions
That does solve most of my problems here. thanks a lot. I also read in an answer to another question that a tag gives rise to a source ebven if it contains no sentence data. That at times was also giving rise to what appeared to be duplicate sources. I appreciate you taking the time to help. -
I'm running 6.12 on a Vista machine. I have not had this problem with other reports. It seems to not occur until 6 or 7th generation entries. A source that has been cited correctly earlier in the report sudeenly may be repeated three times when it shouls have only aoccurred once. Sometine the repeat is only twice. I want to know if anyone else has noted this problem. It is easy to miss because it is almost random. It is repeatable but it only occurs on a few citations. I would like to know if this is another Vista-TMG bug or should I be talking to tech support. Thanks
