  1. Images in PDF format

2 points regarding exhibits in PDF format: 1. if you have adobe photoshop elements 4.0, you can make a reasonable conversion of a pdf file to jpg or other formats. just remember to specify at least 300 pixels, not the default 72. the result is not quite as crisp as some dedicated programs like smartPDF converter. 2. one great advantage of using TMG to store a reference PDF file is for downloaded extracts from books on Heritage Quest. Take a typical 1889 genealogy that has 17 relevant pages, download the 17 pages in one PDF file, and store the file as an exhibit for that genealogy in the master source file. compare that to a file cabinet full of bad xeroxes from the historical society! alan
  2. the "witness tag" does not solve the basic problem here, though it is definitely useful in certain cases. . aside from a photo; it would be desirable to be able to attach a depiction of family arms to each member of the appropriate family. the arms then pops up in the image box. a great addition for dark ages relatives born before george eastman. right now, i can see no way of adding this other than one at a time. a macro would be nice, where you could type in the list of id numbers and then have the tag creation or exhibit assignment performed for each on the list. alan
  3. Multiple monitors

g'day robin, now i see what you mean. you have to keep the display in a "restore down" mode. if you try to maximize, it snaps back to a single monitor, at lease on my setup where the monitors are not the same. you have provided a good step forward. many thanks, alan
  4. Multiple monitors

yes robin, , but I would like to see the "Details" on one monitor and the "Project Explorer" on the other. I am presently keeping two copies of the same project open to acheive the workaround you are also apparently using. alan
  5. I recently discovered File>Preferences>Program Options>Others>Allow multiple monitors. However, toggling this switch seems to do nothing. I still cannot move the display from Monitor 1 to Monitor 2 without de-maximizing it, and I cannot create a layout using two monitors. The Help file implies that windows will drift onto the second screen, but this is not the case. However, some status messages and choice menus do mysteriously appear on the second screen from time to time. alan
