  1. Major Exhibit Problems

Bob, I would assume that you know which file this exhibit is attached to? If so, have you tried either deleting or changing the file name? After doing that, try to open the exhibit again and see if you get a different result. At that point maybe I can help some more. Also, have you reported this to Tech Support yet? They may have some additional ideas Dave O
  2. John, I think that it is a case of changing the preferences, but forgetting that all of your exhibits are still pointing to the old location, so to the program they don't exist. If you run a VFI, and add the new drive path that you changed toit should fix the missing exhibit problem and thereafter find the exhibits for the backup. Hope this helps. Dave
  3. Surety Problems

Jim, I am also experiencing the disappearance of surety values from the Details Screen. When checked, all the information is present, including the assigned value. Exiting the citation of the source seems to refresh the display and the surety value is again visible. I see this primarily with the Name Tag, but it also happens with the Name-Marr tag. Dave Offutt
  4. PDF as Exhibit

Barb, Using let's say Adobe Reader, open the PDF File. At the top should be a Tools Tab, select it, scroll down to Select and Zoom, click, select Snapshot Tool, select the area you want to grab. Once you do it will pop up and tell you that the selected area has been copied. Open up an editor that can save files in jpg format (Windows Paint will even work), have it create a new file, in the new file select Edit, then paste. Your capture from PDF will be there, save that as a jpg file and you will have it. You can just attach the PDF file, but as has been discussed you won't get the output to a report automatically. You could edit the report and grab the information and paste it in, but saving it as a jpg would allow you to see it from the Exhibit Window, and put it into reports if exhibits are selected. Dave O.
  5. Lorna, From the Help File: Prompt for marriage of parents If this is checked, when parents are entered you will be prompted to enter their marriage. Prompt for married name If this is checked, when a marriage is entered for a female, you will be asked if a married name tag should be created for her. If you create this tag, she will be listed under both names in the Picklist and Project Explorer. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- In your case I don't know that it would satisfy the requirements as you are adding one parent, be it father or mother. I don't claim to know how the software implements the prompt pop-up, so I could be wrong. You do not satsify the conditions for the second circumstance because you aren't adding a marriage. just a biological relationship. Did this just happen on one occasion or has it happened multiple times? Dave
  6. Lorna, Just because you merged a person so that they now have a full set of parents may not cause a marriage tag prompt. This case is different than if you add a father and then a mother to an individual. Dave
  7. Clearing Out Endnotes

Tom, I just ran a short test using TMG 6.09, creating an Individual Narrative for one person sent to the screen, followed up by a Individual Narrative for another person. When the second report started to generate I got the expected Endnotes already exist message. The only thing that I can think of is that perhaps your report configuration somehow got changed. Have you made sure that you have Sources, or Memos not embedded into sentences selected to be output as Endnotes? Dave
  8. For those cemetery trips you might want to add a good flashlight. Sometimes changing the way light is hitting an older headstone might be the difference between a photo that can provide a good reference and a picture of a grey stone that nothing can be read on. Dave
  9. Loading TMG V6.09 Error

Bob, Exactly what are you trying to do when you get the error? Have you tried doing the same thing with the sample project, and if so do you get the error then? Dave
  10. Upgrade 4.0 to 4.0d

Hello, Have you tried the Chat with Tech Support function from the Wholly Genes Website? They should be able to provided the file that you need. Dave
  11. Marina, First are you using the Default Configuration? Is the number of excluded pairs is changing after you respond to the "Are you sure want to mark as an excluded pair"? Do you have "Show excluded pairs" checked? Last, have you rerun the Check for Duplicates utility since checking any of these candidates and if you do not have Show Excluded Pairs checked did any of the Excluded Pairs show on the list? I have just run this on my data using 6.09.000 and am seeing what I feel is the correct result. When a pair is checked the number of excluded pairs is incremented. The pair is still shown, becuase the list presented isn't updated till you run the report again. In other words you will see the excluded pairs until the utility is run again so that it can now remove those excluded pairs from consideration. Depending on how many people you have in your database you would spend a lot of time waiting if the utility would rerun the data each time you selected a pair to update the screen. If I am incorrect about this I'm sure that someone will add an additional response. Dave
  12. Fatal Error Exception code=C0000005

May I ask what you are referring to when you talk about the "Great Lost Citations Drama of 2005"? Dave
  13. generating a source list

Teresa, Unfortunately I don't believe that there is any way to do what you ask for. You are looking for something similar to what is presented on the Master Source List Screen, with the addition of Source Type and Number of Exhibits in a report format, am I correct? Dave
