  1. "Missing or invalid memo file"

Thanks, I'll do that. - Jesper
  2. Hello, I hope someone will be able to help me as I've run into some problems when using TMG 7.04: When opening one of my projects TMG has started showing the error "Memo file C:\....\FAMILIE_I.FPT is missing or invalid 318 GETPREXH". Initially it seemed as if it mainly occurred when a picture was present for the person that I was looking at. But now I simply cannot open the project at all, except in Repair mode - and then it still shows the error mentioned above. I've tried to repair and optimize the project but to no avail. Any suggestions? - Jesper Holgersen
  3. That sounds great, thanks Jim. Now I hope that my post has pushed up the priority on this option - Jesper
  4. One of the better presents that I could imagine getting for Christmas would be the option to see all my ancestor's children in the Journal Report when generating a report containing the ancestors for an individual. That is, I'd love to be able to see all children from all marriages and/or relationships (e.g. also those born out of wedlock) I have several ancestors that have children from multiple marriages/relationships and I would consider it very useful to be able to show that e.g. my great3grandfather had 13 children in his first marriage and then 2 in the next; he had to work hard to support all these children, being nothing but a smallholder. As the report is today I can only show that he had two children as my great2grandfather came out of the second marriage. Being shown only this, really doesn't tell much about how his life really was and the responsibility he had to his large family. We don't even know that he had a large family... Could this be something that WhollyGenes would consider for a later update for TMG? Would anyone else like this option? Best regards
  5. How to get an empty sentence?

Hi Terry, Thank you for your reply. I am using the journal (ancestor report - in Danish) report but still see events repeated for spouses. However, using the hyphen did do the trick for me and I rather have to use this than having the program leaving out the tags for the seconds spouse (that way I can control everything myself). Thanks!
  6. I have a number of census events in which the father and mother in the household are principals and the children are witnesses. When printing a report with my ancestors I'd like to see the census events for the father in the family but I se no point in seeing the information repeated for the mother and therefore I'd like an empty sentence for the mother. Unfortunately an empty sentence means it will be copied from the other principal and using the empty memo <[M0]> still produces a space character and a .. Hence a number of census events for a mother in a household following each other looks like . . . . in my reports. Is there a way to get an absolutely empty sentence for a principal of an event?
  7. 'Born' when it should be 'Christened'

Thank you so much for all your suggestions. I haven't decided on how to proceed when registering both birth and christened events. It just seems to me that since both tags exist in TMG and in GEDCOM, it would be natural that I could also have a primary marker on each of these. I like the idea about grouping the tags but I'd also like to control whether I want this grouping or not. Could this be one for the wish-list Also, it should be possible to have TMG detect if all events in a group are christened or birth events and hence decide whether to write 'all born' or 'all christened'. That's another one for the wish list. Best regards and thanks again - Jesper
  8. 'Born' when it should be 'Christened'

Then TMG should not group them together and should just have some of the children show up as 'born' and others as 'christened'. Just as if some children were born in one place and others in another place. I'll have a look. It's never too late to learn something new However, why is the birth/christening so special? I do not see the same mutual exclusiveness for death/burial even though they are also grouped together.
  9. 'Born' when it should be 'Christened'

Hi again, Thanks for your help. I will definatively go for unchecking the "Group Common Birth Places", that's the easier way. However, I'd rather have TMG figure out that it should use 'christened' instead of 'born' I see some idea in having christened and born being grouped together but it has always bugged me that I cannot show both a birth and a christened primary tag in my reports as they are mutually exclusive. Because of this I have to either enter information about the christening (godfather/mothers etc.) in a birth tag or information about the birth in the christening tag (I always only print primary events in my reports). Hence my place list does not cover all places where events have actually taken place and I have to put information about one event into an event type where it doesn't belong. Best regards - Jesper PS. I can of course enter an extra non-primary tag to make my place list complete, but it still not the "right" way to do it.
  10. Dates in Research Log causing problems

Hi again, I'm using TMG 6.09 and no matter how I enter the date (8 oct 2006, 6-10-2006 etc.) it will always change to '08 okt 2006' as soon as I step out of the date-field. I never enter dates in Danish but I am of course using Danish as language A simple step-by-step instruction: 1. For the current person I press the button for the research log 2. I then press add to add a task 3. I enter a name for the task 4. I press tab twice (now the 'oct' turns into 'okt') 5. I press 'Ok' or 'Cancel' and I get an error message That's it! Best regards - Jesper
  11. I'm generating a descendacy report and for some of the families I do not know the birth dates of the children. I do, however, know the dates and place they were christened. They are all christened in the same church. The problem is that in the report it says 'Children of x and y all born in Hjortdal church, were as follows:'. This is clearly incorrect as I do now know and have not registered any birth tag, only a christened tag. It should say '... all christened in Hjortdal church...'. Best regards - Jesper Holgersen
  12. Today I wanted to add a task in my research log. The "Designed" field is automatically set to today's date. Now, I'm running the Danish language version of TMG 6.09 and so the month 'oct' is automatically converted to the Danish version which is 'okt'. However, TMG will not accept this as a valid date when I press 'OK' after having entered the task information and hence the task is never accepted. There's no way I can enter the task and actually I also cannot Cancel the task as it says "'08 okt 2006' is an Irregular date". Need I say that I find the same problem for the month of May as this is converted to the Danish 'maj'? Best regards - Jesper Holgersen
