  1. Passenger List in TMG

    Makes sense. Thanks again!
  2. Passenger List in TMG

Thanks Terry, that works very well! It appears that my grandfather made three trips to the USA (one with his father and mother and two more by himself). I'm assuming that the only one that applies is the last trip when he actually stayed in the USA. Should I refer to the other two trips in the memo field or should I just leave them out altogether? Thanks again!
  3. Passenger List in TMG

Thanks Everyone! I'll work on a custom variation and see if I can get what I want. I appreciate the responses.
  4. Hi All; I'm to the point in my family tree where I'd like to start entering the data that I've found on some passenger lists for a few of my relatives. I see TMG has a PSGR List tag but it seems somewhat inadequate. I've tried entering the info into it a couple of different ways but none of them seems quite right. I checked Terry's website but didn't find anything helpful there for this particular type of content. So what does everyone in here use for this type of information? Do I need to create a custom tag for this? Thanks. Jeff
  5. V7 Hang up on start

I havent used TMG in awhile and when I started it up recently I had the issue with the program hanging at 20% while retrieving messages. Was there something I need to do to get this working correctly (other than disabling the message retrieval section in the ini file). Thanks.
  6. Kinda seems like the program should recognize either extension (jpg or jpeg). Its the same with tif images with some programs using .tif and some using .tiff. Either one is okay so why not recognize them both?
  7. Thank you. I havent really decided how to approach this yet. For the time being it isnt critical but moving forward I'd like to have something in place. I appreciate your input.
  8. Custom Toolbar Question

Thanks Virginia, thats what is was wondering about.
  9. I noticed alot of folks have what appears to be buttons for launching census data (folders or images). How can this be done?
  10. Terry Reigel's Census Tag

Thanks Terry! That was much simpler than I had imagined. Jeff
  11. In instances where the census calls out a city, township, county and state, how do you enter them in the tag window? If theres a city listed along with the township, county and state do you list all of them or do you stick to city, county and state? When using all four locations, the output seems a little cluttered and hard to follow in my Journal reports. Thanks.
  12. Hi All: I've created a few census tags based on Terry Reigels method listed on his web site. They work great. One thing I noticed though is that they all print out in one large paragraph: " He appeared on the 1900 Federal Census of Erin Township, Macomb, Michigan in the household of his parents, William F. Jahn and Fredricka Winkelmann. He was Farmer on Apr 26, 1910 at Kern Road, Erin Township, Macomb, Michigan. He and Clara Louise Patow appeared on the 1910 Federal Census of Erin Township, Macomb, Michigan, enumerated Apr 26, 1910. He and Clara Louise Patow appeared on the 1920 Federal Census of Lake Township, Macomb, Michigan, enumerated Jan 7, 1920, They were renting their home. Their children Grace, Emily and Harold Edward were listed as living with them. He was Farmer on Jan 7, 1920. He and Clara Louise Patow appeared on the 1930 Federal Census of East Detroit, Macomb, Michigan, at Erin Township, enumerated May 3, 1930, They owned their house or farm which had a listed value of $3000. Their children Grace, Emily, Harold Edward, Elma Christina, Ruth and Edith were listed as living with them. He was Manager of dry goods store on May 3, 1930." Is there a way for each census entry to have its own paragraph? Thanks.
  13. Problem With Journal Report

Thanks Terry. I'm not sure if I agree with that line of thinking but if thats the way it is I wont have to spend any more time on it. Thanks for clearing it up fo me! Jeff
  14. I'm having an issue with the journal report function. Certain children arent showing up in the report under their "generation" heading. Children with a plus sign next to them show up further down in the report under their respective "generation" heading. Children without a plus sign next to them do not show up anywhere else in the report. I've tried all of the settings that I can think of and nothing seems to make a difference. I exported my data to a gedcom file and imported it into another genealogy program, ran their journal report and all of the children showed up where they were supposed to. So what am I missing?
  15. Images in Reports

You're saying that they display correctly in the Exhibit Log? if so, check the settings on the Exhibits tab in the report Options. Typically, to get the primary person image exhibit to print, you need to select 'Embedded'. Other options will include additional image exhibits. Your image exhibits actually need to be image files. Some people think that PDF is an image file which it isn't. All of the exhibits in question are jpeg images. They display just fine in TMG but will not show up in any of the reports that I generate (Family Group Sheet, Descendent Box chart etc.). I removed the Data_Paths.txt file and allowed TMG 7 to re-install all of its default folders then re-installed all of my exhibits. Still nothing. For the family group sheet, the options under exhibit are "none", "small images" and "large images". I've tried them all with no difference in the results. I re-installed version 6 and the reports came up with the images without a problem Where is the "embedded" option that you're referring to? Thanks.
