  1. I have two computers, a laptop and a desk top both running Windows 7 64 bit. I have TMG 9.04 loaded on the laptop and it runs fine. I copied the TMG setup file to a thumb drive and tried to install it on the desk top. The install did not add the exe file so when I clicked on the icon I didn't get TMG. So I uninstalled it and down loaded V9.04 from the web site and installed it. When I click on restore to load the sqz files that I copied from the laptop I get a error. It says "OLE error code 0x80040154: Class not registered. 72" "GETFILEX" I need help. Thank you in advance.
  2. I had a 'perfect storm' recently and found myself having to buy a new PC when my WIndows XP machine died. But: I had all my TMG files backed up on the 'cloud'. I moved to a Windows 8 machine with a solid state drive (c:\) and a 2 terabyte hard drive (e.:\). The programs go onto the solid state drive so that they all start quickly. Everything else (documents, photos, exhibits) goes onto the hard drive e:\. Drove me NUTS trying to install TMG because of permission issues with Windows 8 and using an Administrator vs User account, but finally got it. I deleted ALL TMG folders that had been created thru multiple attempts at install. Then I downloaded the latest install package (the '30 day free trial') from Wholly Genes, and it installed beautifully and I pasted my serial number in. The Sample project works beautifully. BUT - my backup is a TMG v 7 Gold edition (not 9) *.sqz file. When I use my TMG v 9 Gold edition and click "Restore" and choose my *.sqz file, I keep getting file access errors. My process includes unclicking the "use default path" for exhibits, as I use mostly external exhibits. The first error I get is "file access denied...local\temp\tmg#####" abort/retry/ignore. If I click "ignore", I get "input file read error. This error occurs when a file read operation is performed on a ZIP file that is locked or restricted by another process". (This isn't a zip file, but it is a .sqz file. I think that's why this error is generated.) If I press on, and hit "ignore" again, TMG v 9 seems to complete the restore process (bars fill, etc.) and I get a "Restore Complete" message. Then I get "alias not found" error followed by many similar errors, then "array dimensions not valid". Sounds like errors generated from an improperly compiled database... I'm thinking that Windows 8 is 'protecting' me and by not allowing me access to the temp file, causing these errors. I'm using my Admin logon to install TMG. I know this is hideously complex - a restore from an older version AND a move in operating systems, but I could sure use some advice. I'm getting the shakes because it's been two weeks since I've been able to work with TMG and I'm going through cold turkey withdrawal! Can someone help?
  3. i have not used TMG in a while, being tied up with other things. Here is the sequence of events: Ran version 8. Must have been the first time I've run that version since it asked for all my information. Set it to run demo, and downloaded latest version 8 update. Asked to be pointed to project file. I pointed it to the project files I had copied from the TMG 7 Project folder into the TMG 8 project folder. It failed because it could not find a .ocx file. Today I uninstalled TMG 8 and ran the installer again. It gets to the screen that shows the installation path, but when I click on the Install button, nothing happens. It just sits there. Where can I go from here to get TMG 8 reinstalled? I am running Windows 8 64-bit. Dale
  4. 4/28/12, 23:02 Computer: Fujitsu Lifebook N6470 Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo T5740 @ 2 GHz OS: Windows 7 Ultimate SP1, 32-bit I just bought and installed the TMG v8 Gold upgrade to TMG v7. My programs folder now shows two TMG programs, v7 and v8. Should I uninstall v7 now that I have v8 or should I leave both of them on my computer?
  5. I downloaded the full version of TMG 8.02. All appeared ok. Then I did a restore of my TMG7 backup file .sqz. It appeared to go okay, then ended with an error 505 TRROLESTOD5 There is not enough disk space for y:\documents\The Master Genealogist v8\Projects\our family tree_c.fpt with options Abort, retry, ignore. Retry did nothing. Ignore gave a further error 21 FIX_70 with same written message. Abort continued on and at first loaded the program, but then when I tried to save the program, it again gave me the 505 error, exactly as above. I tried running the Sample file and all appeared ok, no 505 error. But when I tried saving a layout in it, I got an error 84 REPPUSH stating the repeat.dbf has been corrupted. Table will need to be repaired before using again. I have run TMG7 on a Mac in Parallels with no problem for the past 2 years. I tried deleting TMG8 and then reran the full install, but got the same errors. I've rebooted several times. There is plenty of space left on my C drive under parallels; I even tried deleting some things, just in case. I did not want to do the update to v8 because I've read of various problems and wanted to make sure my data and setup were correct in both v7 and v8 before deleting v7. Thank you for your help.
