Quark versus Pagemaker

Recommended Posts

I am getting ready to publish and would like to get the right program since it looks like the price is a little steep

Which program is the best plus easiest to learn

Quark or Pagemaker or other that one may suggest

I have MS Word 2007, seems to be ok but can publishers import to what they use

I really need some guidance here

I think I asked to many people around here and am completely confused

Thanks

Your best bet woulld be to see what format your publisher requires...assuming, of course, that your have selected a publisher.

Some will accept Word files, others may require a PDF file.

As Roy says, ask your publisher what is required. Most printers I checked out as I prepared my Primer preferred PDF format.

I created Primer on Word97, and then converted the file to PDF with PDF995, which acts as a printer driver. It's free with ads, or only $9.95 to be free from the ads.

A specialized publishing program may ease the layout, especially if you are doing something complex, but you can do a lot of layout work with Word too. But you don't need anything fancy to create the required file formats.

Thanks a bunch Roy and Terry

I think I'll try Terry's suggestion, looks like an easy way to go

Got to run to Russia in a few days to the Archives to get my final stuff, then I will give it a try

Thanks again

Kenny

Hi,

I created Primer on Word97, and then converted the file to PDF with PDF995, which acts as a printer driver. It's free with ads, or only $9.95 to be free from the ads.

conc.: output to PDF:

Microsoft Office 2007 has a export possibilty to PDF (must be downloaded and installed, but is free). Another possibility is "FreePF XP" (downloadable from http://freepdfxp.de, they have also versions for Windows 9x/ME/NT), free of charge, works like a printer from every program.

Regards

Helmut
