Creating a Report

Recommended Posts

I would like to hear from anybody, who can explain how I can obtain a Report showing the following:

Name of person Reference Birth date Birth place Source citation linked to this tag

Once I can do this type of Report I can then change the Birth to Death or Marriage

The only other proviso is that it only contains Births after 1837.

Look forward to seeing your responses.

David

List reports are very specific as to the type of report. You want features of the List of People report, the List of Events report and the List of Citations report in one report which can't be done.

List of People...

You limit the output...

filter

Birth... Year > 1837 END

Output columns...

Name, Reference, Birth date, Birth place, # of citations

List of Events...

You limit the output...

filter

Tag Type Label = BIRTH AND

Date - Year > 1837 END

Output columns...

Prin1 Last, Given; Prin 1 Reference; Date; Place; Number of Citations

List of Citations...

You limit the output...

filter

Linked Event... Tag Type Label = BIRTH AND

Linked Event Year > 1837

Set the report to 'Columnar' on the Options / General tab

Output columns...

Linked event; Prin 1 Given Last, Linked Event; Date, Linked Event... Place, Source Number, Citation Detail

%%%%%%%%%%

And, of course, you can adjust anything above for a different event such as Death or Marriage.

You need to look at the filter and output column options of these different list reports to see all of the possibilities available and experiment until you get something close to what you want.

You just can't have a list of two entirely different types of data at the same time. You want to focus on one data type (people, events or citations) and then design the report that gives you the most information.
