default web browser

Recommended Posts

For both TMG 7.x and SS 2.x the default browser seems to be stuck on IE.

That was previously my default browser. However, I changed to

Mozilla 3.x a while back. When I click on the web search in TMG or

browse the SS newly created html files they are launched in IE.

I made IE not the default using its options, and make Mozilla the

default using its options. Further, I went to Add/Remove Programs

in Windows XP and used the set program access defaults to check

now and it says Mozilla. The folder type extensions are also set

to Mozilla as the default to open.

I just clicked a link in an email from a commercial company and

that link also opened in Mozilla.

So it appears that there is something in TMG that is stuck on IE.

I can't find a setting. Supposedly it goes to your default browser.

Is there a way to manually reset this without reinstalling? That

would be possible to time consuming.

Gosh, I doubt that it can be internal to TMG or SS as I am using Mozilla/FF as my default. When I "Search the Web" or open SS html files they launch Mozilla/FF. When you say that you "browse the SS newly created html files they are launched in IE" what do you mean? Are you double clicking on the files in Windows Explorer? or what? If double clicking opens IE, then the folder type extensions must still be set to IE. You want to be sure that both the ".htm" and the ".html" file types are set to Mozilla.

Figured it out. Insuring the URL type in file types wasn't enough. Scrolling down to the HTM file type it was still set to IE even though HTML and all the other settings were FF. Not sure why FF didn't change that. Apparently all the other links I use are HTML and SS and TMG use HTM. So fixed. Thanks for the reminder about HTM extension!
