The best example i can give is 1) Place= Delft Country=Netherlands 2) Place= Delft Country=Netherlands 3) Addresse=Old ChurchPlace= Delft Country=Netherlands 4) Addresse=Old Church Detail=plot xx21 Place= Delft Country=Netherlands I would like to merge 1 and 2 but not 3 and 4 due to their extra detail Is that possible Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

Any places which are identical will be merged. The Help files say the following which helps understand why some won't merge. For two place records to be considered duplicates, all fields must be the same. This includes the Style, if one was used to create some of the entries. It is possible, for example, for two Master Place records to appear identical, but to have been generated using different Styles. Hm That was a bit RTFM on my side ...sorry However it is a bit lacking especially the unused records with comments I can imagine that when cleaning you would like to get rid of some auitomatically It would be nice to merge places the way people can be merged Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

This field has the form DDMMSSNDDDMMSSE where:DD=Degrees latitudeMM=MinutesSS=SecondsDDD=Degrees longitudeAll of the above must have the indicated number of digits with leading zeros if necessary.N=Latitude direction (N or S)E=Longitude direction (E or W)For example: "361614N0823529W" is 36 degrees, 16 minutes, 14 seconds north latitude and 82 degrees, 35 minutes, 29 seconds west longitude. LatLong is the level 9 place field or [L9] when it is used in sentences. However, you are not restricted to using this method of defining Latitude and Longitude in TMG. As of TMG v7.03, you can enter the coordinates differently than described. TMG will warn you that the text is not a valid TMG value for LatLong, but you have the option of telling TMG to accept the data as-is. In fact, if you intend to use Second Site and its new Map capability you should not use TMG's coordinate system for inputting this data. See John Cardinal's help file on his new SS map function and the requirements for entering LatLong for SS here.
