Roz7380 0 Report post Posted April 18, 2010 Hi I am very new to TMG, having used FTM in the past. I was wondering if, how, can i share tags (such as census reports) between family members without having to do for each one separately. Roz
Michael Hannah 0 Report post Posted April 18, 2010 Hi Roz, I am somewhat confused by your question. By sharing tags, I can think of two issues: your family members have TMG and you want to share how you have customized tags with them. Or, you have entered a tag in your database, such as a census tag, and want the same tag to apply to multiple people, such as family members of the head of household. I will assume the latter. The feature in TMG that does this is the Witness feature. A single tag can be linked to an unlimited number of people by assigning them as Witnesses. You use roles for these linked people that will allow them to be referenced in both the Principal and Witness sentences so that the output will read well in these people's narratives. I suggest you review the very helpful on-line material at Terry's Tips. For example: Data entry tutorial talks about Witnesses: http://tmg.reigelridge.com/data-entry-tutorial.htm Terry has some example custom Census tags: http://tmg.reigelridge.com/Census-Tag-Basic.htm A discussion about sentences: http://tmg.reigelridge.com/Sentences.htm and a tutorial on Roles: http://tmg.reigelridge.com/Roles-Tutorial.htm Hope this gives you ideas,
GJCowley 0 Report post Posted April 25, 2010 Thank you for this advice, Michael. I just joined the forum to ask this question myself. For example, I want to use the same census tag for father, mother, and all eight children, but don't want to enter it ten times. I will explore the sites you recommend.
