Have I Got A Bug in Relationship?

Recommended Posts

My Gr Grandfather's Father is showing as "no blood relation" to me. His father, however, is showing as my 3rd Gr Grandfather, which indeed he is.

When I double click the relationship tag the missing 2nd gr, it calculates perfectly. Unfortunately, he's not the only one, the wife of 3rd Gr Grandfather is showing "no blood relation" also and she is my 3rd Gr Grandmother.

Before you ask..."what have you done to upset these relative?"

I have recently added the 3rd Gr Grandmother as 3rd Gr Grandfather's wife and then added "son-bio" tag to the woman with 2nd Gr GF as the son.

have I done it wrong??

From help...

"CAUTION: If you enter new persons after this feature is turned on, you should click on Refresh relationships. If you do not do this, the correct relationship may not appear in the new person's screen."

File / Preferences / Current Project Options / Other / click [Refresh relationships]

Many thanks for that, without your help I would have never found that although I did try and find my problem through the help screen first, but maybe I was asking the wrong question.

As my Grandmother used to say to me,

"It's not the answers that we seek, it's the correct questions"

Anyway, we are now one big happy family again.

Thanks again

You may also want to add the following to your toolbar:

Under View=>Toolbars=>Customize, scroll down the Unused Buttons list

and select the Toggle Relative auto-tag" option...this toggles the

auto-relationship tag on and off...

from Lee Hoffman: Add "Toggle Relative auto-tag"
