How To Display alternate names in reports?

Recommended Posts

I have loaded a Family Tree SuperTools v2 project from a Legacy 7.5 file.

Within Legacy I maintain alternate names for some individuals.

It appears as if alternate names are correctly imported as I can view a few while viewing individuals.

However, under report options > Data Types > box contents > tag types, I can't find any tag that will print the alternate names.

Is there a tag which will print this in the charts?

Thanks,

Occhio

Only the Primary name is printed in the chart. You can make the Alternate name primary for those individuals by highlighting the alternate name tag and pressing the asterisk key.

You may want to visit the Visual Chartform forum for chart ideas and suggestions - most of which are applicable to FTST.

Thanks for the hint about pressing the asterisk key, I didn't know about that.

Because I am importing from Legacy, the data set is locked and I can't seem to unlock it.

So it doesn't appear that I can press the asterisk key on an alternate property.

BTW, the property that contains the alternate name is "Name-Var".

Thanks for suggestion to look at Visual Chartform forum.

Yes, I see the problem - not being able to edit the alternate name with the locked Legacy database. It looks like your choices are to edit the names in the chart boxes - by doubleclicking on the name and typing in the new one - or in Legacy before import into FTST. Is this a small enough number of names to be a viable option in either case?
