jonsaunders 0 Report post Posted August 21, 2012 I need to get a new computer yet this year. Will TMG 8 run ok on Windows 8 or should I get out and buy while I can still get Windows 7 pre-installed?
Jim Byram 0 Report post Posted August 21, 2012 Any application that works under Win7 should work under Win8. I have no operating system issues running TMG8 under Win8. There is another topic on this subject. http://www.whollygenes.com/forums201/index.php?showtopic=14553
Robert Jacobs 0 Report post Posted August 22, 2012 (edited) I have installed Windows 8 on both of my machines -- a T-series Thinkpad laptop and a homebuilt desktop. TMG 8.04 installed and runs perfectly on both (but see the pinned topic on the K & N versions of Windows 8). The underlying structure and file system of Windows 8 is essentially the same as that of Windows 7. The "metro" scheme seems to be a kind of shell overlaid on the Windows 7 structure. One keystroke (Windows-D) gets one from metro to the traditional desktop and there are already some free downloads which allow one to skip metro altogether when booting up. Windows-C invokes the metro sidebar (I forget what it's called in Microsoft-speak). HTH. Robert Edited September 16, 2012 by Robert Jacobs
