Dubious or doubtful ancestors

Recommended Posts

I have a vague memory that several versions of TMG ago there was a discussion about dotted/ dashed/ wiggly lines to indicate dodgy/ unproved/ dubious ancestors in trees and pedigrees. Did anything come of this?

The reason that I ask is that I have just refound one of these people in my data but there is no way to spot this bad link, nor to indicate to any casual viewer of the website, nor to a reader of a printed chart that I have no primary proof of a certain generation.

John -

One way -

Create a Flag for the people in a dubious line.

Use the Focus Group to corral the people in the dubious line. Save the Focus Group.

Use the Secondary Output of the List of People report (Focus Group) to set the flag for those people.

Create a screen accent based on that flag setting.

In the report options select Fonts and Colors > Honor screen Accent color definitions.

Attached is an example of the Descendant Indented Chart showing a dubious line.

Thank you for the solution. However in the meantime I had an opportunity to chew away at a problematic ancestor and found the proof in a single obscure newspaper report, There are others in my database who will benefit from your solution. I think a screen colour of white to signify surrender would be appropriate :goof:
