Peter Tarkkonen 0 Report post Posted June 12, 2014 Hi! I use external exhibits and seems that those are not experted during Gedcom export? Am I right and is there a way to export exhibits? Or am I possibly doing something wrong? I use also Second Site which only supports external ones so cant change that. Peter
Jim Byram 0 Report post Posted June 12, 2014 A GEDCOM file is a text file and contains the exhibit records (links, captions), not the exhibit files. Those have to be transferred separately. The GEDCOM specs do support embedding hex-encoded exhibit files but I'm aware of only one program that supports this.
Peter Tarkkonen 0 Report post Posted June 13, 2014 Thank You Jim! Are you aware of any iPAD genealogy app which can import TMG data direct or import any of TMG export formats. I know many which can import GEDCOM but as you mention, only part of the data is transferred. Peter
Jim Byram 0 Report post Posted June 13, 2014 The only app that uses TMG data directly is GedStar Pro for Android. There is nothing comparable for IOS that I know of. The best solution for IOS is to use a Second Site website. There are discussions of how to load a SS website on the iPad on the mail list. http://archiver.rootsweb.ancestry.com/th/read/TMG/2013-09/1379947044 Here's a different method. http://www.whollygenes.com/forums201/index.php?showtopic=15346&do=findComment&comment=63246
Peter Tarkkonen 0 Report post Posted June 13, 2014 Thank you again Jim! Interesting approach to move SS site to iPad. Love the idea. I will update current possibilities with Terry and John. Peter
