List of 3rd 4th and 5th cousins

Recommended Posts

I recently joined 23&me DNA site and have 3rd 4th and 5th cousins.

How do I prepare a list of these from my TMG9.

I started with TMG5 and only recently upgraded to TMG9.05 UK Version.

It is three years since I last entered data so I am starting again almost from scratch.

Suggestions of how to proceed would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you Brian

Brian,

The Kinship report will do that for you. If you want only those distant cousins you will have to send the report to a word processor and delete the nearer ones.

Terry,

Thanks. I'll try that.

I just received your book and could not find it there.

I did not know about the Kinship report.

Where do I find the tutorial?

There is no K in the Alphabetical index on your website.

I have looked up Relationships but that does not help.

I think I need a simple step by step procedure.

Sorry to be so dumb but I am not used to working with these files.

Brian

Brian,

The Kinship report is mentioned briefly on page 84.

What tutorial are you looking for? I don't think you will find one because that report works pretty much like all the other "genealogy reports" described in Chapter 9. You set the subject and number of generations as described there, and could set source notes as described if you wanted them. The settings for Tags don't apply since there are no tags displayed in this report.

General setup of the report, including specifying output to screen, printer, or file, is the same as all other reports, and is described in Chapter 7.

This isn't hard. Make yourself the focus in the Details window, open the Kinship Report definition from the Reports menu, make sure the "Use the Current Focus Person" box near the top is checked, and click the Create Report button and see what happens.

Then change the "Report Destination" settings or click Options and explore the settings there and try again until you get what you want.
