Josie 0 Report post Posted December 31, 2015 I have a similar problem to others in that I have just upgraded to Windows 10 and although TMG appears to run OK it has now started to say that I am running a trial version and it has expired. This is not true, I have a fully paid up version, and its key shows in 'About TMG'. My main dataset has already been moved to FH My second dataset is one I now need to update and transfer to FH. Fortunately as I use tribalpages I do have a GEDCOM file I could load into FH, even though the GEDCOM export may not be optimal. My real problem is my third dataset (my husbands family). I have not updated this for sometime but a lot of work has gone into it. I have no GEDCOM export. I do have a v9 project, but of course the 'trial' version of TMG will not allow me to export the data. I also have a backup done under version 8 of TMG. I have V7 TMG on an old laptop. My question is will TMG version 7 restore from a V8 backup? If so I could avoid all the hassle of re-installing v9 under Windows 10. MT Josie
Terry Reigel 0 Report post Posted December 31, 2015 Josie, No, you cannot restore a backup made in TMG 8 or 9 with TMG 7. However the fix for the "expired trial version" after updating to Windows 10 is simple. It is described in my article on updating in the section on Multiple Unlock Requests. There is no need to do a new install.
