Cannot restore TMG project file from backup on external HD

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone,

I am running TMG 9.05 Gold on a Windows 10 Pro system. I purchased a Seagate Backup Plus external hard drive some while ago for all of my backup needs. I have my TMG program installed on my internal OS © hard drive with my project and config files stored on my secondary (larger/5TB) internal hard drive, which shouldn't be an issue because TMG is able to accommodate such things quite easily. Oddly enough, when trying to restore the backup of one of my project files from the external hard drive through Windows File History, the TMG program will not recognize the restored project file. File History also claims that several files are missing from the backup, even though they have been copied over. Note: The "back up" is not a sqz file; it is simply a CC of the original project file. I would appreciate any thoughts as to why this is happening.

I suspect that the backup is acting like a sync operation and backing up only thise files changed from the last backup. The result is that the project is incomplete and broken since a TMG backup and project requires a full set of files. Bottom line... TMG project backups should always be done through the TMG backup option so that they result in a full backup and restores should only come from the TMG SQZ backup files. You should be using the backup facility to backup the TMG backup SQZ files, not individual files from the project folder.
