jcrohio 0 Report post Posted December 6, 2017 Recently coming back to genealogy after a number of years. Been messing around trying to reacquaint myself with TMG. Been working with reports and have the following issue. When I generate a Narrative Report I get a comma after the place name. Some of the sentences generated already include commas so I end up with a double comma after the place name. I know the obvious solution is to edit the sentence and delete the offending comma. But what I am curious about is if there is a way to suppress the comma from he end of the place name. I tried editing the report on the "Place" Tab, "Use selected place fields", and then "Trim leading and trailing commas" but this had no effect. I also tried "Use Short Place field" which also had no effect. Any ideas would be appreciated. Jack
Michael Hannah 0 Report post Posted December 6, 2017 Sorry, Jack, but I know of no way to suppress the comma from the end of the place name. In fact, it is even worse than that. There is a remaining bug in the final TMG version where that annoying extra comma will be output in reports, but will not show in the sentence preview making you think everything is fine until you generate the report. See the entry in my list of outstanding bugs: "Extra comma shows in reports but not in Sentence Preview"
jcrohio 0 Report post Posted December 7, 2017 Thanks Michael. I have a workaround but was hoping there was a way but not a show stopper.
