peggyb50 0 Report post Posted February 19 Several years ago I made an Ancestor Box Chart for my three granddaughters. I started the chart with the eldest but was able to add a box for the other two into the chart. I now want to make a chart for my other grandchildren (three) of a different family but cannot remember how to add those two boxes beside the first granddaughter. Can anyone help me with this? Jim Byram 0 Report post Posted February 20 You can run the VCF help by double-clicking the Vcf2.chm help file. The Vcf2.hlp file won't open in current Windows versions. "C:\Program Files (x86)\The Master Genealogist v9\Vcf2.chm" Under help, read Working with / Adding Components. To add a box, see the box on the toolbar. To add a component to a chart: 1. Click on the tool you want to use. 2. Click on the place on the grid where you want the component to begin, holding down the left mouse button. 3. Drag the mouse to where you want the component to end and release the mouse. Then you can resize, move and position the box, add connectors, and add data. It's been many years since I've used VCF so, hopefully, someone who still uses it will respond to this topic. You can also contact the mail list for help. Terry Reigel 0 Report post Posted February 21 Peggy, As I recall, you can also copy an existing box, place it where you want, then edit the data in it to fit the new person. Editing the connecting lines is a bit tricky. My articles on charts at https://tmg.reigelridge.com/Charts.htm may help, especially the one on Editing linked in the third bullet near the bottom of the page. peggyb50 0 Report post Posted February 22 Terry, I copied the existing box for the two additional siblings. I just cannot figure out how to edit the data in the new boxes. When I click in the new box it has a four arrow cross and I have looked at everything on the toolbar and cannot determine which will enable me to edit the data. Terry Reigel 0 Report post Posted February 23 Peggy, It's well hidden. You right-click on the box on the chart, and choose "Detail Properties." In the Components dialog that opens, select the one starting with "Text" that you want to edit. There will be separate lines for each line of text in the chart box. Then click the Properties button. In the dialog that now opens click the "Text" tab, which includes a field that contains the text that you can edit. Repeat for each line of text in the chart box.
