Problem Adding Research Task to Source with Long Title

Recommended Posts

I sent the following to <support@whollygenes.com> but have not received even an auto-response that it was received. So, I'm going to post the issue here.

Encountered a problem when adding a Research Task to a Source that has a long title (title must be at least 117 characters long for the problem to occur).

Steps to cause the problem:

1) Add a source whose title is at least 117 characters long.

2) Edit the source (select Tools>Master Source List>; select the source; click Edit)

3) Press F12 or click the Research Log icon

4) Click ADD to add a Research Task; enter a research task title (say "Test"); click OK

An error window is displayed having the title "The Master Genealogist" and containing the following:

"Error with lbl_subj - ToolTipText : Expression evaluated to an illegal value.

10 FRMRESLOGTMG2.MREFRESHRECORD"

along with Abort, Retry, and Ignore buttons.

5) a) Selecting Abort causes the error window and the edit window to be closed.

B) Selecting Ignore causes the error window to be redisplayed.

Selecting Ignore a 2nd time again causes the error window to be redisplayed.

Selecting Ignore a 3rd time causes the error window to be closed.

c) Selecting Retry causes the error window to be redisplayed.

Selecting Retry a 2nd time causes another error window to be displayed on top

of the first window with the title "Program Error" and containing the text:

"Error with lbl_subj - ToolTipText : Expression evaluated to an illegal value."

along with CANCEL, IGNORE, and HELP buttons.

I've attached a Word document containing a screen shot of the error windows

Mark,

I am sure that one of the tech people will answer you soon, but just wanted you to know I can recreate it following your directions. I know that doesn't help much, but at least you know someone is listening. ;)

Mark,

I responded to your email on Wednesday. I can replicate the problem and will be passing it to the developers on Monday.

Phil,

Thanks for your reply. I thought I'd sent the message from my main email account but I must have sent it from one of the secondary ones that I haven't checked yet.

Again, thanks for your help.
