Ctrl + L doesn't switch to previously viewed person

Recommended Posts

I've just had a repeat of something I'd thought fixed back in 6.03.

In 6.02 IF the last thing you'd done was add a new name tag and made it primary, then Ctrl+L (to go back to last viewed person) just left you on the current person,

My memory is that we (Jim? or Terry?) had a conversation about this and ?Jim/Terry? believed that a name change shouldn't add another entry into the view history.

Ctrl + L would therefore always take you to the 2nd on the list.

I certainly believe that a view history is of people, or IDs, not separate names for the same people.

My view history is showing both names for my current person, and Ctrl+L is definitely not moving back to the previous person I viewed, and is staying firmly on the current person, although the PE is showing I've changed from viewing Emma A VIGUS to viewing Emma Augusta BEAVER, albeit that they are one and the same ID.

Can anyone replicate this?

Yes, this was discussed some time back, but there was no change. The Ctrl-L, and the "Last viewed Person" button and menu command, all take you to the last viewed person as listed at the bottom of the View menu. Trouble is, that is actually a list of names and views, rather than being people and views.

When you change the name of the current person, the new name becomes the current name, and the previous name (even though it's the same person) becomes the previous entry on that list. So when you go to the "last viewed person" its actually the same person.

Thanks Terry. Wonder why I thought it was "fixed" back in 6.03?

Hope this can be added to the wish list then.

CTRL + L function doesn't seem to work as I would expect it to. I've been adding new names from group sheets. Rather than grabbing the mouse and clicking the toolbar button (which works perfectly to return to the parent) I would expect the shortcut key to do the same thing. It doesn't, and I have tried in numerous circumstances. It simple remains with the same person.

I performed a name variation tag, and the CTRL+L stayed with the new name variation, and the highlighted field moved from the new name tag to the "mother" tag type.
