openvalley 0 Report post Posted December 15, 2005 I know TMG 3.5 is very old, but I'd like to run it on Windows 2000. It crashes right away with a zero divide. I notice the os.dat file references Win 95 and NT only. Is there a way to get it running on Win 2000?
RobinL 0 Report post Posted December 15, 2005 Here is a quote from an TMG-L email 8 Jan 2002 This is a FoxPro problem and not a Wholly Genes induced problem. However there was a fix around that increased the delay as the program opened by a small amount and this fixed it. ========== Known Problem 35.3 Description: "Divide By Zero" error starting TMG/Win. Note: This problem affects Windows NT or Win95 running on 400 Mhz or faster machines. Simply put, the machine is so fast that one module tries to load before the previous one is completed, causing the error. Solution: A special utility has been developed to overcome this problem. Download FOXSTART.ZIP into the c:\tmgw directory, unzip the file and execute. Create shortcut to Foxstart.exe. Right click on shortcut and choose properties. In target type after c:\tmgw\foxstart.exe -t 2 "c:\tmgw\tmgmainw.exe"; after completion, double-click on Foxstart shortcut icon and TMG should start loading. Users will have to load TMG through this icon. ========== A quick search of the Internet gives this page as a source of FOXSTART and an explanation of the problem http://www.datacustoms.com/foxstart.htm
openvalley 0 Report post Posted December 19, 2005 Here is a quote from an TMG-L email 8 Jan 2002 <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Robin, many thanks for the response. I have installed foxstart as suggested, but I still get the same problem UNLESS I start up Task Manager to track the performance effect of foxstart - then it works! My machine is only 650 mhz, nothing super-fast. I've tried changing the t -2 option to a higher value in the hope that it will increase the delay, but so far no result. I will just have to keep Task Manager running!
