dhemery 0 Report post Posted March 18, 2006 Does Second Site offer a way to put all names into the name index, including alternate names? Thank you, Dale
John Cardinal 0 Report post Posted March 19, 2006 Yes. You have a couple choices with how you want that done. Primary names are always indexed. For alternate names, you can ignore the name tag (not in index and not in narrative) in the index only, or in both the index and the narrative. For example, many people use a Name-Marr tag so that a woman's married name appears in an index. If there is insufficient evidence that the woman legally changed her name or used her husband's surname after the marriage, it may be better to leave the Name-Marr tag sentence out of the narrative. In that case, you can configure Second Site ansd your TMG data to show the name in the index, but omit the Name-Marr tag from the Narrative. See Names Section in the Second Site help pages. Not sure why this question is in the Older Products and Versions section. Perhaps you thought it said Other Products and Versions? It turns out that there isn't a subforum here--or anywhere else--for Second Site questions. You can subscribe to the SecondSite-L mailing list, but that's probably something you'd do after you decide to use Second Site.
