LornaHenderson 0 Report post Posted March 24, 2007 (edited) For one horrible moment today I thought I'd just pushed enter to merge two people incorrectly as I suddenly noticed that I appeared to have two different Deaths for a chappie. Then I realised that the 1855 one was him as a Witness, not the principal. My wishlist item is to make this much clearer on the Merge screen by, eg, showing (W) after the tag type if the person is a witness not a principal Edited March 25, 2007 by LornaHenderson

Select "As Witness" and it won't show Death. Edited March 24, 2007 by jeffpiper

I'm reasonably sure that the tag concerned in my example was a standard Death tag, and I have that set at display witnessed tags "as "Witness" and to display roles. Even if I'm wrong, I think it's still a valid wish list, as I'd have to make sure that each and every tag was set up the correct way for that to happen rather than a standard "W" display

I'd come across it before somewhere. I agree that it would be a good to be able to set globally for tags so you could toggle between the 2 options.

We must be talking about different things here Jeff. attached is a doc with a couple of screenshots. One is the Other screen of my tag type list for, in this case, my Will tag, showing it is set to show Witness and in the background, is the rhs of the following merge screen It only shows WILL for the chap who was actually only attached as witness. MergeScreenWitness.doc Deepest Apologies Lorna, I didn't fully read your post for where you were. I've looked in the right place now, the merge screen, and see what you see. Despite the tag being set to show witness rather than the title, it clearly give the tag title. The one I looked at then had 2 deaths as he was witness to his father's death. I agree some clarification is needed if the tag is present when the person is a witness.

Glad to know I wasn't missing something.
