I have never been afraid to ask stupid questions and I don't mean to stop now.

I have been running versions of TMG now for a few years and am becoming increasingly aware that I am not using it to it's full extent, largely becuase I do not understand the 'language'.

I am now trying to do things that are not obvious to me, such as adding places of education, employment and other events that are important besides 'Hatches, Matches and Despatches'

In words of one sylable how do I do this ?

Is there a glossary of terms that are peculiar to geaneology and if so were can I find it.

Regards

Alan,

First, I recommend that you read Terry Reigel's pages at http://tmg.reigelridge.com/whyTMG.htm. He speaks in plain English that we all can understand, and has drawings to explain what we can't. :)

Then once you understand what you have read there, I suggest you check out the sentence forum and get some ideas of things other TMG users are recording in their family histories. You will understand the sentence structure and use of roles better once you have read Terry's site.

In addition to Terry's excellent articles, there is a Glossary in TMG Help - the far right button after you press F1 for Help. There is also an extensive glossary of genealogy terms at:
