Converting V 5 on Windows XP to V7 on Windows 7

My old computer died 2 days ago. It was running V 5 of TMG using the Windows XP operating sytem. I now have a new computer that runs Windows 7. The TMG folder is intact and has been copied across to my new computer but an attempt to run TMG results in a message that it cannot run under the Windows 7 system.

 

I'd like to upgrade to TMG V7 but am wondering if it will run under Windows 7 and if it will be able to read my old TMG data files. I'm a novice as far as Windows 7 goes so don't know what to expect.

TMG5 is not compatible with Win7. And you can never move a TMG installation from one computer to another by copying the program folder.

 

You install TMG7 using the installer.

Thanks Jim. I'd already worked out that I needed a later version, so my procedure will be to upgrade to TMG7, then to restore the data from my last backup.

Is this also what I would need to do to move TMG version 6.12 on Windows XP to a new computer running Windows 7? I would guess TMG 6.12 will not run on Windows 7?
