Why does the Picklist show multiple names for the same person?

Answer: If a person has multiple Name tags, each tag will appear in the Picklist. If two or more of those Name tags have the same data, duplicate entries will appear in the Picklist.

 

In TMG, you can remove a duplicate name from the Picklist by deleting the extra Name tag. Non-primary Name tags appear in the tag list, and you can delete them by selecting the tag and choosing Edit > Delete > Tag or by keying . You can not delete the primary name; you have to make another Name tag the primary name first. You can make a Name tag the primary name by selecting it and choosing Edit > Make tag primary. The primary Name tag can be edited by clicking on the "Name" label at the top of the Person View.

 

Note that duplicate names are often caused by merging records and keeping the Name-Var tag from both records.

 

Remember, the Picklist is a list of names, not of people.
