TMG and Norton Ghost

I installed Norton SystemWorks earlier in the week and I now cannot open any projects with TMG 6.07. I select a filename, press open, but the filename clears and leaves me with the original list of files.

 

I've tried Second Site but it suggests that the .cdx index files are missing.

 

Looking at the directories the .cdx files are there but all the file names have been changed; timestamp information has been added in parenthesis. I suspect this has been done by Norton Go Back or Norton Ghost.

 

Can anyone help ?

I hope someone else who uses Norton System Works will come to the rescue, but in the meantime, some things to look at:

 

Apparently TMG is opening normally - so the tmg.exe is not being affected, only your project files? Are they in the tmg project folder or separate?

 

If you search in Windows Explorer for YourProjectName__.pjc or sample__.pjc, can you find them?

 

Does Norton create images of the files for restore or backup purposes - and could you be looking at those instead of the original tmg project files?

 

Are there options in Norton to not modify all file names?

 

Could the Default Project Path in TMG Preferences > Program Options > General be set to an image file (if there is such a thing)?

Have you gone online to Symantec to check for updates?

I have had Norton System Works installed for several years, but have not had this particular problem.

However, I did have interaction problems between Roxio and Norton, and I eventually discovered that the problem was mentioned on both Roxio and Norton sites. Have a look on the Norton site for something like "known issues".
