A Guided
Tour of Family Tree SuperTools
Chapter
2: Accenting the names of people
|
[2.1]
One
of the most exciting features of Family Tree SuperTools is the ability
to highlight or "accent" the names of people in different
colors, based on user-defined conditions. This feature gives you
new and powerful ways to learn about your data. In this simple example,
the names of men and women are distinguished by color.
Notice
that the accent conditions can be displayed in the status bar at
the bottom of the screen.
|
|
[2.2]
Accents
can use any number of conditions, each with its own assigned foreground
and background colors. An additional color combination can be specified
to distinguish the names of people who meet more than one condition.
In
this example, people born in Tennessee are shown in red, those who
died in Virginia are blue, and those for whom both is true are in
green.
|
|
[2.3]
The
accent conditions are specified on the Accent Definition
screen.
Accents
can be based on the value of flags (e.g., Sex, Living, etc.), field
values (e.g., country of birth, surname, etc.) or on a long list
of calculated conditions (e.g., age, # of children, etc.)
|
|
[2.4]
An
accent definition can be saved to a file and restored later, making
it easy to switch between different collections of accent conditions
and colors.
You
can even share your creative accent settings with other researchers.
|
| Many
other examples of accents are demonstrated throughout this guided
tour. |
