[6.1]
The
Picklist is the list of all names in the project. You can
access it with a toolbar button or with an option on the Edit
> Find a Person menu.
This
screen shot shows a basic configuration with accents turned off.
Type into the Search field to jump to the first matching
name.
(Remember
that a higher screen resolution would provide room to display more
data at once.)
|
|
[6.2]
Notice
that the left-most column reflects an asterisk for primary names.
In
this example, "Adgate, Eunice" is a married name record
imported from TMG v4.x. The primary name of the same person is "Waterman,
Eunice" and naturally appears in a completely different part
of the list. Having all of the names in one list makes it easy to
find people by any name variation.

|
[6.3]
By
clicking on the Event List button, the Picklist converts
to a different mode which shows a chronological list of all events
in the life of the highlighted person.
It
is like a little Person View!
You
can click on Column Mode to switch back to the previous configuration.
|
|
[6.4]
The
Options button offers many ways to customize the Picklist.
In
Column Mode, it offers a list of column types which you can select
or deselect for viewing (as in this screen shot).
When
configured to view the Event List, the Picklist Options window provides
a list of all event types from which you can choose for display.

|
[6.5]
Here
we have sorted the Picklist by given name.
We
are also using the Accent feature to highlight the names of people
who have more than 3 children. (Being colorful can shed more light
on your data and it is also lots of fun!).
Notice
that the title bar indicates that there is a total of 5632 names
in this project.
|
|
[6.6]
You
can also filter the Picklist by a long list of criteria.
Here
we've filtered for people named "John" who had any event
in Tennessee.
|
|
[6.7]
You
can also save Picklist filters to a file so that you can load them
again later and switch between filters easily.
|
|
[6.8]
Upon
processing the filter, we find that the resulting Picklist shows
that 30 people match the specified conditions.
The
right-hand side of the screen is updated to show the events of the
focus person as we scroll through the list.
(The
prior accent conditions are still applied to this filtered Picklist.)
When
you double-click on any person, the Picklist is closed and the focus
of the other windows is changed to the selected person.
