  1. Zip File Back Up Error

I am using TMG 9.05 within a Parallels shell 17.1.1 for Windows 10 Home on a MacBook 12.1. Last successfully backed up 3 days ago to Microsoft OneDrive on my MacBook (2018). Tried to back up today and got a TMG error message: "Input file read failure - this error occurs when a file read operation is performed on a Zip file that is locked or restricted by another process." I can't think of anything I have done to cause this problem. It's possible I upgraded to Mac OS 12.1 after the last backup there days ago Any suggestions very much appreciated. Thank You, Grady Houseknecht "
  2. Has anybody had this experience? Can anyone explain it to me? I have been going along just fine with the last version of TMG (9 something) and Windows 8.1. For no discernable reason, while I was entering information into TMG from a newspaper article, I got a message on my laptop that it was uploading Windows 10, and the computer starting (evidently) uploading Widows 10. A little startled, I shutdown the laptop and pulled out the battery, hoping to stop the process. I don't want Windows 10, and don't plan to deal with it until I replace this laptop, and will be forced into it. Now, when I start to turn it off, I don't get the choice of shutting it down, but only the choices of "sleep", "update and shutdown", or "update and restart." Not having a teenager around to explain it to me, I texted my daughter, who tells me this is just a normal update of programs already on my laptop. But, I am suspicious. Can anyone help?
  3. Upgrading questions

Several issues. I am running TMG Gold 9.03.0000 and would like to upgrade to 9.05, partially so that I have the latest version and partially so that I will also have a copy of the installer file to put aside just in case. I use a Mac with Parallels 10.4.0 and would also like to upgrade that to v. 11, and then upgrade my Win 7 to Win 10. I also run Second Site 6.0.2. I have current backups of my TMG projects. A lot of upgrading there and I'm a concerned about a conflict along the way. I have my TMG serial number, and my original e-mail from Wholly Genes when I bought TMG v. 9. This shows my name, e-mail address, serial number and order number. I this information my "unlock code"? If so, is that all I should need to upgrade to TMG 9.05? Once I have 9.05, I think my sequence should be to: 1. Upgrade to Parallels 10.4.0 2. Upgrade to Windows 10. Thanks, Ed Dunscombe
  4. I've installed TMG 9.05 in my new Windows 10 laptop. When I view or print a Journal Report, some of the exhibits (.jpg photos) are huge, even in some cases becoming nearly a full page in size. I've defined the exhibits as being a maximum size of 1.5"x1.5", but that's just not happening. Am I going to have to resize all my photos? Is this a Windows 10 issue? I didn't have this problem on my Windows 8.1 laptop. I would be happy to provide further information that might help solve this problem. Thanks!
  5. Is TMG 9.05 compatible with Windows 10? I have a PC running Windows 7 Ultimate SP1, and the updater has stopped working. Its a mess. After some research, it would seem the easiest solution would be for me to upgrade to Windows 10 Pro. Before doing so, I want to make sure TMG 9.05 is fully functional under Windows 10 Pro. Is this the case? Can I safely upgrade my computer and have TMG 9.05 continue to work as it always has? Thanks, Jean
  6. My pedigree chart output does not open in Word 2013 under Windows 10. I am using TMG 9.05. "A table in this document has become corrupted" I reinstalled "repaired" TMG 9.05 without joy. A journal report to Word opens in Word 2013 just fine. Any suggestions? Thanks, JeffM
  7. Hoping to find out about upgrading to Parallels 11 and going to Windows 10. I have the latest edition of TMG and now running Parallels 10 and Windows 7. Has anyone upgraded to the more recent versions of Parallels and Windows? I understand that if I upgrade to Windows 10, then I probably need to get Parallels 11. But I want to make sure they don't cause any issues with TMG 9.05. Thanks.
  8. Windows 10 issues

I made the quantum leap and updated to Windows 10 on my laptop. BIG MISTAKE. I started getting error messages telling me I was denied access to the program. I trird a number of fixes including backing up my TMG priject file to a USB pen drive, uninstalling TMG, reinstalling....still error messages.... ran repair...still a problem. Since I had just updated Windows I had the 30 days in which to run it back to windows 7 pro, which I did. Another mistake. Still the problem, and when I tried to uninstall TMG an error maessage came up and I couldn't uninstall. I then foolishly manually deleted all TMG folders, and references to the master genealogist in regedit. (I should know better!!) I installed TMG 9.5 on my old Win XP desktop and imported my project backup. It worked perfectly and still does. I then reinstalled a clean version of TMG on the now win 7 pro laptop and, having transferred my backup file from the pendrive to the Documents folder, restored it. I had to re-enter our details name email ser no as expected. It ran perfectly. I closed the laptop down, restarted it and tried to open TMG. it came up with : Program Error File accrss is denied c:\...\documents\the master genealogistv9\logs\programstartlog.log I selected 'Ignore' another error window came up, 'Ignore' again and a third time, then I had to re-enter the name /email and ser no. again. Then I could use it. Any ideas? Iain MacIntosh
