error message 482 REINDEX DATASETS
rossbus replied to gilcroome's topic in The Master Genealogist v9
I am also experiencing the same problem. I have a database with more than 45,000 individuals. It runs on a Windows 7 desktop, with 8 GB Ram, McAfee Security Center & Memeo Premium Backup 4. (Memeo monitors selected files and pushes the changed files to a network drive). I thought I had the problem solved after deleting the project, uninstalling TMG 9.01, re-installing TMG 9.01, restoring the backup from the day before the problem, re-indexing the file, optimizing the project and validating the project. Validation reported 1 error fixed. I then tried to re-index and found the problem re-occurred. Perhaps the validation process removed the "_PPV.DBF" file. -

error message 482 REINDEX DATASETS

I began to experience the same problem yesterday (July 6). The problem affects various .DBF files. I thought I had the problem solved this morning when I deleted the project, uninstall TMG, re-installed TMG 9.0, updated to 9.1, restored the backup from July 5. Everything looked good for a while when I re-indexed the project, optimized the project and validated the project. Validating reported one potential problem fixed. Then I re-indexed and the "_PPV.DBF" file was missing. Is the validation process removing files needed to for the project? I am running windows 7, McAfee Security Center 12.8 and Memeo Backup Premium 4.60. Memeo pushes changed files in my backup set to a network server. I need a solution other than rentering data on the 46,000 person in my database (one data set). -

Every time I start the Master Genealogist I have to open the Preferences, Programs Option, Tag Box and re-select the show non-primary events. Is there something I am missing?

Thanks Jim. That seems to have done the trick.

Export to GEDCOM very unreliable
rossbus replied to Helmut Leininger's topic in The Master Genealogist v8
I did have the project in the Public Documents folder and was using Memeo to backup the Public Documents Folder. I uninstalled TMG, deleted the folders that had been created by the previous installation, reinstalled TMG 8.01 from the CD using the default path, made sure Memeo is not backing up the project folder and restored the projcect from a backup. I now get an error message when trying to create a gedcom. "File access denied. c:usersownerappdatalocaltemptmg32698252file_e.cdx 4427 M_SUBSTITUTION_E" Also program will not update to version 8.04. running the update reports the program is up to date. About TMG on the help menu reports version 8.01 installed. -
Export to GEDCOM very unreliable
rossbus replied to Helmut Leininger's topic in The Master Genealogist v8
I have found the export to Gedcom does not work on my large database (45,417 persons, 137,823 events, 284,979 citations, 1288 sources). The program acts like it is exporting the file and does create a gedcom file. The problem is the resulting gedcom file is useless. My most recent attempt created a file with only 17,420 person each without parents, spouse and children. The same computer is able to successully create a gedcom for a smaller database (9,513 persons). I have run all the maintenace options (reindexing, optimizing & validating the file integrity) several times since the problem started (also ran these periodically multiple times per year for several years). I have also uninstalled and reinstalled the program (version 8.04). TMG is able to produce reports showing the relationships that are missing in the gedcom.
