  1. Yes! Thank you for your help, Jim. There was indeed a Name-Var tag out of view in my tag box from a year ago when I had lost the thread and then rediscovered the family as JANES in a census. My bad - I referenced the fact only in the Memo portion of a Name-Var tag and immediately applied myself to the renewed search. As time and new information have passed, the Name-Var tag dropped down the page and out of my regular view. I had totally forgotten that oversight and this is a good reminder to me to make sure that I always fill out the required fields. All is well. Thanks again.
  2. Thanks, Jim, but there is only one name tag for this fellow. "Frederick Oxenham James". I opened the tag, deleted the given, surname and both sort name fields and then entered the initials FOJ in the Given Name field as a placeholder. This has resulted in an 'FOJ' primary listing in the PE and a non-primary listing of FOJ James. I understand about the primary and non-primary names potentially existing for each person, eg. women appear twice with both maiden and married names, same ID. But men don't so why do the other men in my project have only primary name listings and this fellow has both?
  3. The oldest ancestor in my family tree appears twice with the same ID in the Project Explorer - once as a Primary person and once as a non-primary person. How do I get rid of the non-primary instance without deleting the person entirely? This appears to be a benign problem, but in expanded view, the entire PE window is taken up by this one man and his family in duplicate and I'd prefer to eliminate the problem rather than just continue to ignore it. Any suggestions? Janet
