  1. I have been running TMG v6.07 flawlessly on our our PC in WinXP SP2. Have now acquired a new PC with Windows Vista on it. I would be quite happy to continue using v6.07 but it won't work on Vista (as I understand it). I downloaded to the new PC the file TMG6setup.exe which I understood from the details on the download page would upgrade version 6.07 to version 6.12 which that page said is compatible with Vista. I have two questions: 1) why, when I double click on the file TMG6setup.exe do I get the error message "could not initilaize installation. File size expected is 40052307, size returned equals 1553159" and the only option in the message box is to click OK (end). In other words, I can't instal this file. (I get the same thing happen when I tried it on a downloaded file tmg7setup.exe. This is even after I have enabled the file to be compatible with Win XP 2) assuming I can with your help get v6.12 installed on the new PC, do I just need to instal TMG v6.07 on the new PC? Otherwise, what advice would you have? Julie
  2. Second marriages - ordering

Thanks for that information. It will certainly help achieve the result that I want.
  3. I have a large database of family members and am wanting to work out how I can put in order the marriages in cases where a person marries twice but the dates of the marriages are unknown. In a number of cases when I run a report (descendant indented chart) the marriages do not show in the correct order. There are also other cases where the date of second marriage is known but the first is not. Can anyone offer any suggestions? Julie.
  4. I want to be able to export to MS Access (whilst maintaining the links/relationships between people within TMG) How can I do this????
  5. I am trying to generate a report that includes the birth, death and marriage information for family members and that also includes the number in family of each person as per the sample below. I would like the numbering to be indented for each generation. This would mean that each generation is indented further than the previous generation. Is it possible to do this via TMG or can anyone suggest how I may be able to do this. I have MS word, excel, MS Access available as an option if it is possible to export to them - if this is the option how do I export in a workable format? I tried to export but it produced about 30 files each with only a snippet of information in it. The indented report that TMG produces is similar to what I want, but lacks the ability (as far as I can make out) to number the family members (ie the children of a couple) in the way that I want - as below. Sample Family Tree for the family 1. John Smith b. 1800 at London and died on 1/1/1871 at Paddington, NSW m. 1825 at Sydney Hester Brown b. 1802 at Sydney and died on 23/2/1881 at Paddington, NSW 2.1 Mary Smith b. 1826 at Sydney and died on 2/2/1896 at Bondi, NSW m. 1854 at Paddington, NSW Maurice Hound b. 1821 at Manly NSW and died on 4/4/1873 at Manly, NSW 3.1.1. Harry Hound b. d. m. Esther Clarence b. d. 4.1.1 Mary Hound 4.1.2.Harry Hound 4.1.3.Melinda Hound 3.1.2. Andrew Hound m. Clarissa Green 4.2.1 Melissa Hound 4.2.2. Ben Hound 3.1.3. Angela Hound m. Anthony Good 4.3.1 Peter Good 4.3.2 Jenny Good 4.3.3 Mary Good 4.3.4 Lucy Good 2. George Smith b. 1805 at London and died 25/2/1872 at London. 3. Mary Smith b. 1807 at London and died 26/2/1875 at Melbourne, Vic M. 1838 at Melbourne Henry Jones b. 1800 died 1880 Melbourne, Vic 3.1 Harriet Jones 3.2 Elsie Jones 3.3 Agnes Jones 3.4 Thomas Jones m. Annie Grey 4.4.1 Mary Jones 4.4.2 Peter Jones 4.4.3 Philip Jones. Hoping that someone can assist with ideas Julie ps the sample above is not indented as I would like as this won't allow me to indent.
