  1. NOTE tag

Not true - if the principals are the same you can only have one primary marriage tag.
  2. Have you got the box "embed sentence memo2 on the miscellaneous tab of the report options selected? THis includes all memo segments referenced in the sentence. If you have memo segments that are not referenced in the pricipals sentence the only way is to set up a custom language (called , say, details report) and under that language change the default sentence to be [M1][M2][M3]...[M9] this will then print out all segments of the memos on the detail reort is the language used is the new custom one.
  3. Exclude part of memo

Have you selected the option on the report to select the sentence memo? On the Report Definition screen select options. Then select the miscellaneous tab. Ensure the "Embed Sentence Memo tag is selected.
  4. How can I delete this unwanted source?

Lorna Have you tried the 'person and source report' in John's TMG Utility.
  5. Lorna You will not get a prompt for a married name is a name tag already exists for that surname.
  6. Can TMG export to MS Access?

There are ways of exporting the tables- depending on what you want to use the data for in Access. Whitetown produce several conversion and viewing utilities for .dbf tables (I have not tried them all myself) and I use their .dbf viewer to look at my TMG data files see http://www.whitetown.com
  7. Which census source type?

I do something similar as well using custom sentences and sources although I do not use witnesses and have a tag each. The sentence being [:CR:]Census: [D] enumerated as [M1] at <[L]> described as <[M2], >aged [M3]< and [M6]>. <Occupation was "[M4]".> <Birthplace was [M5].> <[M7]> M1 - Name M2 - Marital status M3 - Age M4 - Occupation M5 - Birthplace M6 - Handicap (Blind, deaf etc M7 - Anything else worth noting. The source output being [CENSUS YEAR] UK Census enumerated in the household of [CD1] with a relationship described as[CD2]<.National Archives Reference [CD3]>< . [CD4]>< . ([CREF])><. [iTAL:](for copy of page see folio [CREF])[:ITAL]> CD1 - Head of Household name CD2 - Relationship CD3 - Piece folio and page number (e. g. RG9/1232/65/21) CD4 - Any other comments about the source (e.g. very faint writing or occupation illegible etc) CREF - Any notes about conclusions I have drawn and why
  8. Data Transfer

Yes Use the list of people report to create a new project using filters and/or focus groups. You can then merge this new project into another project if you wish. If you want any help with the report settings or filters please post a further message.
  9. 28 characters

Teresa What language are you using to set the tag up? If I set up a tag in English(UK) it keeps at least 28 letters but the US name is truncated.
  10. Arman I do not get the same result as you for the first filter - I get everybody in the project (as I do for your second filter). This is correct as the default name type is "name-var" therefore when the first name is input for someone they have a name-var tag. Try using a filter for number of name-var tags is greater than 1.
  11. What page size have you selected for the paper size and/or in the printer settings? Try setting it for the width of your banner paper and set the length as the height of the chart (plus margins) {The height is shown in tolls > diagram > diagram measurements}. I use this method when using roll paper. Also what printer are you using and are you using an up to date driver?
  12. I use the following method. Firstly populate the focus group with the people you want to include in the chart. Then make a list of people report with the subject of the report being the current focus group. click on the options button and on the secondary output tag select create new project and choose the name of the project and also select the surpress output box. You will then have a new project containing only the people you want.
  13. Flag values disappear

Judy Do you mean that the complete flag window is not showing or that the flag window is showing but the values are not there? If window is showing and the values are not - is there an empty column with the heading "value"? Are you using a custom layout - if so return to the standard layout (which does not include the flags window) then go to the window menu and select "flags" the flags window will now appear in the top left corner of your layout. Does this flag window have the values showing?
