One of the options on UFT import is to import the UFT Short Place which is imported into the Short Place Field in TMG....

They are exhibits that are not attached to a person or an event. With the Exhibit log open you can change the Focus to General Topic Exhibits and add exhibits that are not attached to any person or any event. Why would you want to do this? Perhaps to use in a slide show presentation created with TMG...

Go to the WG site and download the current demo. This is the current version of TMG6. Use you TMG6 unlock code to unlock it and you're good to go...

Exhibits are not available for output on the Family Group Report if the destination is a word processor. If you look under the Exhibit tab you will see that the options are grayed out when output is to a word processor. Exhibits can only be printed on the FGS if the output is to PDF, Screen, or Printer.

Dick: The truncation was probably done when you converted from UFT to TMG4. The length of the Abbreviation field was much shorter in TMG4. It was increased in TMG5 at the urging of users...I'm still correction some abbreviations from the UFT conversion as I find them...

I am assuming you are talking about the Master Source Type List. One Source Type has to be indicated Primary. It can be anyone. The only time it comes into play is when you delete a source type. If you delete a source type that is being used in sources then those sources will revert to the Source Type that is marked Primary. To mark a Source Type Primary, select it and click on the Primary button.

You observation is correct. The standard Journal format begins the section with the full name of the person (not the possessive). Since the birth sentence is the first sentence it normally reads John Smith was born....if you change it to read any other way it will first print the full name and then the sentence as you have set it up... Normally you would want to print the date of birth not the date the birth was registered which could be different than the actual date of birth...

It's not differences in the styles that is of concern...they have to have the same style...

From the TMG Help File: NOTE: For two place records to be considered duplicates, all fields must be the same. This includes the Style, if one was used to create some of the entries. It is possible, for example, for two Master Place records to appear identical, but to have been generated using different Styles. Optimizing will not remove unused place records for which a start year, end year, comment, or short place name have been recorded. Wholly Genes, Inc. Check and see if they have different place styles...

Preferences>Current Project Options>Other....check Automatic "Relation" tag and enter the ID# of the focus individual...

It does work properly if output to a word processor but then you use the nice formatting with the boxes. It appears that the upper box with that information is not designed to expand and therefore you get no text wrap when outputting to PDF, Screen or Printer...

To check available space on your flash drive go to Windows Explorer, right click the flash drive, select properties and you will see how much space is left on the drive...

When it freezes try going to the Window Menu and selecting "Center the current window"...sometimes the window opens behind other windows...

You are probably better off correcting this in UFT and reimporting. In UFT under Utilities select Project>Check, uncheck every thing except "Streamline Research Text Fields". This will remove the "Last edited in Roots III" phrase....

It's because you have a duplicate name tag with the same name. Look in the Detail View, tag list, for the individual and you should see a name tag with the same name as the primary name. Delete that name tag.

It appears some browers are sensitive to the direction of the slashes in the URLs....some accept them in either direction....

Under Preferences>Program Options>Other check or uncheck (depending on current setting) "Send URLs to the browser with backslashes", and try it....

Your sort options are on the Sort tab under Options. You could put the date and parish in the Task Name and the sort by Task Name....

The Auto-Relationship is not recalculated for everyone when you enter a new person. It only calculates the relationship on a new person added based on whom the new person is added to...for examply you uncle is your blood relative, his wife (your aunt) is not a blood relative, you add a child with the aunt as the focus person you will get "not a blood relative" for the child. If you add the child with your uncle as the focus person, the relationship will be calculated. Its a good idea to refresh the auto-recalculation every once in awhile....I have a button on the custom tool bar that permits me to toggle the auto-relationship off and then back on which recalcuates.

Only to the extent of the selections under Preferences>Program Options>Tag Box...what is it that you are not seeing?

That's why I was asking what version you were using, I knew it had been a problem in an earlier version. I tried to reproduce it but was unable to with the currrent version. Glad tech support is on top of it...

Under the report Options for the List of Tasks, go to the Names tab and try unchecking "Show data set ID"
