  1. What version of TMG are you using?
  2. I would try resetting the Add Person template to the default but recreating it as you want it.
  3. Bizarre Exhibit Behaviour

An LOP filter or filtering the PE for # Exhibits > 0 will only get you those individuals that have Exhibits attached to the individual, will not get those individuals that have Exhibits attached to Events only with none attached to the individual. You need a filter as follows # Exhibits > 0 OR Any Event # Exhibits > 0 END
  4. Editing Memos

In TMG select the tag that has the Memo data in it and open it for editing. You can edit directly in the Memo field or expand the memo using F7 to a full window of its own for editing...
  5. Prepositions in reports

You should have on your CD a file tmg6ug.pdf which is the Users guide and can be printed. You can also download the User Guide from TMG's home page, http://www.whollygenes.com/index.htm Also the online Help within TMG is very helpful. There are other online sites by users that can be of help to you, http://tmg.reigelridge.com/ and http://www.tmgtips.com/ being two of them. Another good source is the book that was written by users "Getting the Most Out of The Master Genealogist" also available on the TMG home page. The P, PO, M, D, and L are some of variables used to construct the sentence that will print in narrative reports. All variables are enclosed in []s. The <> around a variable makes the variable conditional, in other words it won't print if there is nothing in that variable field. P stands for the Principal in the tag, PO stands for the second Principal in the tag if used. M = the memo field, D = the date field, L = the place of location fields. The template you shows prints "She" for the [P] (this is because her full name appeared in a previous sentence in this paragraph, the "was" is from the template, the "teaches 6th and 7th grade English" is data you entered in the Memo field. You could change that data in the memo field to "a teacher of 6th and 7th grade English" and the sentence would then read "She was a teacher of 6th and 7th grade English" If she is still teaching you may want that to read "She is a teacher of 6th and 7th grade English" and you can do that by modifying the Sentence template in the tag. You have to be in the Advance Editing mode to be able to modify the sentence templates. When you are entering data in Memo fields that will print in the sentence template you need to consider the sentence template in constructing how that data should read. Hope this has helped some...
  6. Prepositions in reports

You need to take a look at the sentence template for the tag that is producing that sentence and figure out what is wrong. If you want post the sentence template here and include what you have entered in the various fields of the tag and we can help....
  7. DNA Information Tags

What was your selection when you got the no information? I just checked all and they all take me to a site. All TMG does now is allow a place to record the DNA results. There is no reporting or matching capability. I had a 25 marker test done about two years ago to verify that I had myself in the right Lawrence line as one of my connections was based on circumstantial evidence since many records had been destroyed here in the south. I matched on all 25 markers with another researcher who's lineage is more thoroughly documented and it proved I had myself in the right lawrence family...the branch could still be wrong but it does give credance to my circumstantial evidence.
  8. Master Place List

Optimizing will remove duplicate place names....from the TMG Help File: To optimize a project: 1. From the File menu, choose Maintenance. 2. Select Optimize. 3. Select [Yes]. The current project will be optimized. Deleted records, including people, events, sources, repositories; unused media files in Slideshow; as well as duplicate place records, will be eliminated and the space reclaimed. NOTE: For two place records to be considered duplicates, all fields must be the same. This includes the Style, if one was used to create some of the entries. It is possible, for example, for two Master Place records to appear identical, but to have been generated using different Styles. Optimizing will not remove unused place records for which a start year, end year, comment, or short place name have been recorded. Wholly Genes, Inc.
  9. With the cursor in the City field, press F2, type Char...(however many characters to get you to the correct place in the Place list, press Enter twice and all fields will be filled in.... Also, pressing F3 will enter the last entry in a particular field and ctrl+F3 will give you a list of the last 15 entries for the field...

  12. Formatting Journal Reports

The [CR] does not have to be on a separate line. I use all the time at the beginning of my biography or note tags. I enter in the memo field [:CR:][:CR:][:TAB:]Followed by the text of the memo..... The text of the memo then shows in the PV, the codes do not....
  13. Help needed to find source for comments

It sounds like it was imported as a source. Go the Master Source List (Tools>Master Source List) and see if there is a source or sources that has that wording. If so you can probably delete that source and solve your problem.
  14. Help needed to find source for comments

UFT had a option under Check that would remove this statement, "Streamline Research Text Fields"...I'm not sure exactly where this is imported. If you took the default settings on import it looks like this should have imported as a Research Task. If you could give more detail as to where this comment is appear, what report, where in the report, maybe we can figure out where it is in tmg. In doing some checking it appears that the comment should have imported either into a Note tag, the memo of the primary Name tag, or as an individual research note depending on a user selected option. See if you can determine if you see that comment in any of those locations.
  15. Language Choices Greyed Out

  16. Changing Report Margins

  18. Sounds like you made the source inactive which means it will only show when in the More mode of the MSL. While in the More mode, select the source and Edit it...you will probably find it is marked inactive in the upper center of the the edit window...

  23. DNA Information Tags

Have you looked at TMG DNA Log? Click on button on the right of the Camera on the Button Bar, looks like a double helix....
  24. Relation Tag

Try turning the relationship tag off and then back on (or Refresh relationships) and see if you don't get the calculation. TMG will not calculate a relationship if you add an individual to a non-blood related individual. For example if you have an uncle who is a blood relative and you add a child to the family but add it with his wife (your aunt) in focus no blood relationship will be calculated as you aunt is not a blood relation.
