  1. Caption text dont print

As I recall, captions only print in the Journal Report for exhibits attached to individuals. Captions for exhibits do not print in the Journal Report. However, all captions are displayed in Second Site.... Paul, thank you. Had the same feeling but just wanted to be sure. If so, then have to ask "why not do they print?" Peter Probably because of the way they place the event exhibits in the text, at the end of the sentence...it would be very difficult to get the caption to print exactly under the exhibit. If fact you cannot get the caption for the exhibits attached to an individual to print unless you "center" the exhibit. If you don't "center" the person exhibit the "include caption" option is not available...

  3. Printing Reports Without Memos

FYI: The correct variable type is: <[D]> Date <[L]> Location Oops, of course you are right, the Detail B is place in the Place Detail field which is not the [D] but prints as part of [L] if it has data in it....[D] is the date field as stated...
  4. Printing Reports Without Memos

I haven't followed this thread closely but offer the following information on how TMG handles a UFT import... In UFT tags had details A & B fields...these fields do not exist in TMG. Thus conversion from UFT placed data that was in detail A & B fields either in split memo fields or in split Place detail fields depending on the nature of the field in UFT. There are default settings for this in the Import Wizard and the destination can be changed if the default does not meet your needs. The sentence for the tag took this into consideration when building the template so the sentence that appears in TMG should be the same as the sentence that appeared in UFT. Additionally, UFT had text fields for each event as well as an over text field for the individual. The text fields for the events in UFT were placed in the memo field of TMG upon import. If there were already data in split memo fields because of UFT detail A & B field then the event text was placed in the next available split memo field, i.e., if there were detail A & B info place in M1 & M2 fields then the event text was placed in M3. In the Import Wizard you had the option to add the memo field (the part that contained the UFT event text) added to the end of the sentence template. An example...the death tag, converted sentence from UFT reads as follows: [RF:Deceased] died <[M1]> <[D]> <[L]> <[RA:Deceased]>. <[M2].> Detail A (cause of death) from UFT is placed in [M1], Detail B (Death site) is placed in the Place Detail field [D], and the event text is placed in the next split memo field [M2]. See correction to the above in message below ([D] is not Place Detail but is date, Place Detail is part of [L]) Hope this helps in explaining how the import of UFT data worked... As for you other question concerning the placement of endnote (footnote) numbers, TMG places them all at the end of the sentence like UFT. Some users utilized the Surety fields to indicated what the citation refers to, i.e. the surety fields are 1, 2, D, P, M....Principal 1 and 2, Date, Place, or Memo....

  8. How do I display last marriage

The spouse shown is the "last view" spouse...to set the "last view" spouse go to the individual, switch to the Tree or Family view and click on "Next" in the lower left until the spouse you want to show is shown.
  9. Rich Text Format copy/paste

In my tests of cutting and pasting from Word or WordPerfect the double spaces are not change to one....however, double spacing at the end of a sentence is outdated. Most print uses proportional spacing and does not require two spaces at the end of sentence. The two spaces were standard when using a typewriter which as fixed spacing and I imagine would be acceptable if using a fixed font like Courier, but I'm no expert and could be wrong...
  10. Filtering a filtered list

I don't believe you filter a filter list. If you want to filter on mulitple criteria you have to combine the criteria into one filter...
  11. Exhibits linked to events

There is not need for a primary designation for event exhibits. The primary designation for exhibits attached to an individual designates which exhibit shows in the Exhibit window and which exhibit shows for an individual in some reports. You cannot designate an event exhibit to show in the Exhibit window.
  12. Exhibits linked to events

Only exhibits attached to an individual can be designated primary...exhibits attached to an event cannot be designated primary...
  13. (****) Better yet is available...add the <[PAR]> parameter to the birth sentence (see Help under Variables (Event Tags)...the varialbe <[PARO]> is included in the marriage tag to get the parents of the spouse... BE AWARE that if you add the variable to the birth sentence in SS you must uncheck "Add Parent Sentence" under Pages>Format or you will get the parents repeated twice....

  25. I have wanted to include spouse data in journal reports, not just BMD data but other data as well. This can help create a more complete view of the family and can help keep people with similar names separate when reading your report. In Descendant reports, it is also useful to include spouse data for every one. For example, if a descendant dies with a young family, that person's spouse may have census tags, etc which describe the family after the descendant's death. Ultimate Family Tree has an option "include all spouse data". This does create a lot of redundant text for ancestors and their spouses in an ancestor report, but gives a more complete picture of families. It would be nice if TMG provided options to do something similar. Does any one else care for this feature? Pierce Did you check "Include spouse events" on the Miscellaneous tab under Format?
