  1. Thanks to all for the helpful hints. It appears that this is a "problem" that has not yet been "solved". I will institute the idea of adding a comment/note in the source item, which appears to be the easiest solution at this time.
  2. Back in Feb, 2009, there was a topic asked about what would be the source type for an Intent, but no one answered the question. I now have come across new records on Ancestry pertaining to Maine marriages from 1705-1922, and one of the lines on the form is "Intention Filed" (i.e. Intention: June 9, Date Married: June 22). I cannot find a specific source type within TMG that would handle this. Or is this the license date? Does anybody have a suggestion?
  3. Intent to Marry Tag Type

Thank you very much, Virginia. The items in the archive give good descriptions as to what is was and how to handle it.
  4. Intent to Marry Tag Type

The "source" of the "Intent" was the county marriage records in Maine (1705-1922). The on-line records document (viewed on Ancestry) is titled "Copy of an old Record of Marriage". They have obviously been copied to these forms, which were then photographed, from county record books. On the form is a line "Intention Filed" and then several lines below is a line "Date of Marriage". Most of the time I do not find a date on the "Intent" line, but sometimes it shows up. Obviously this was a formal item recorded in the county, but in today's terms I do not know if it is a license, the engagement (why would that be "Filed"), or something else. In today's traditional wedding vows there is an intent to marry near the beginning of the service to ask whether or not the couple has come "freely and without reservation" to be married; it is not a "filed" document. I am just attempting to understand what this "filing" represented so that I can either use the correct tag type or create one of my own.
  5. I've searched the forum and can't seem to a topic that answers this question, so I'll ask. Besides doing screen prints or copying the search results window and pasting each into another document, which you can then print, is there a way to print the results of the filter? I've developed a complex filter and would rather have the resultant listing printed rather than all the individual's detail, etc. Maybe I've just not gotten deep enough into the app to find out how to do this.
  6. Printing the Filter Results

I build filters as a means to locate all individuals who were born, died or were buried in a particular location (or were living within a particular time frame, etc.). Using that filtered group I could then search the records within that physical location or specific on-line database (via web or in person) for those individuals. I don't want to carry along a large report, just the names, birth/death dates, etc., so I would know what time ranges to investigate when I get there. Since the results of the filter are displayed in a window I was wondering how I could print just that window. I am fairly new at using TMG and haven't had the time the delve into the fine workings of the program. Neil brought up the "List of People" report which I can try.
  7. I have read Terry Reigel's comment yesterday concerning another topic in which he stated that only the birth, death, marriage and burial tags are included in the Indented Descendant chart. My question is why wouldn't the Divorced tag be included in that report? It does go hand-in-hand with marriage, just as death goes with birth. If you have an individual who has married more than once, but you don't have a death/burial tag for the previous spouse, then the report implies nothing about how the previous marriage ended: did that spouse die or were they divorced? How much time after divorce/death did the other partner remarry? Or if they didn't remarry, how long was that partner single? I believe the Divorce tag should go along with any report that automatically reports a marriage tag. What do you think?
  8. Three times since I got a new computer running Windows Vista 64bit the computer has crashed when I had TMG v7 open. The monitors start flashing and then I get an error concerning the monitor driver(s) and then it shuts down. When it reboots (on its own) it has a disk error message and I have to manually start it up. Then it goes through a CHKDSK procedure and finds nothing wrong. I've run all sorts of virus scans and nothing is present. This only happens when I have TMG open. Yes, I know TMG v7 does not save Word documents under 64bit, but I've gotten around that so far. If Whollygenes cannot get a new version soon that will run under the 64bit operating system (and Windows 7 is due out next week) then I will have to go to something else; I can't have that happening. I don't want to change because I like TMG, but .... Anyone have any suggestions?
  9. I've about had it with TMG v7

I had another crash last night when TMG was NOT running. Since it is a new machine I took it back to where I bought it (BestBuy) and their Geek Squad found that the error messages refered to Norton AnitVirus which I thought I had removed. Their software found some lingering components of it and they removed all traces. Not sure if this will fix the problem but if it does I owe an apology to WhollyGenes for my comments prior to this.
  10. I've about had it with TMG v7

I changed the Preferences setting last night to two monitors, but didn't have a chance to test it out. I'm not sure what affect that really has. In fact, the crash didn't happen every time I had TMG open, so I don't know if that preference change would affect it. I will say that I have had the machine running almost 24 hours/day for the last week and the crash only happens when I have TMG open - no other application seems to drive the error.
  11. I've about had it with TMG v7

I'm not entirely sure what I was doing, but most probably I was adding individuals, or tags (i.e. birth date, census, etc.). I will attempt to change the monitor settings under preferences and see if that solves it, but I'm kind of gun-shy at the moment, even opening TMG. This doesn't happen every time I use it and I've run the optimization, etc. to fix any problems associated with the data with no errors popping up.
  12. Attempted to do a project backup and got the following error message: "Input file read failure - this error occurs when a file read operation is performed on a Zip file that is locked or restricted by another process." I then clicked on the OK button and got the next error: "Errors occured during backup. The output file c:________.sqz could not be created." Any suggestions as to what is going on here? And how I can fix it?
  13. Unable to Perform a Backup

Thanks. I had just used the default settings for everything in the backup procedure, which had it going to the C: drive, but it was attempting to put it in a Backup folder which didn't exist. I changed to different folder and everything worked. Again, thanks.
  14. Got an error message while attempting to drill down into a family: Index file __________ genealogy_e.cdx "EVbyper" is corrupted. Please rebuild it. 465 FRMDETAILS.CNTEVENTLIST.MPREPAREEVENTS3 Anyone got an idea on how I "rebuild it"?
  15. Corrupted Genealogy_e.cdx File

OK, comparing the files in your screen shot the CDX files seem to correspond to my Active Server Documents. DFon;t know why they are called something different on my system. I am using Vista Home Premium SP 1, 64bit.
  16. Corrupted Genealogy_e.cdx File

OK, here is a listing of the files I have in my project: Active Server Documents: 29 DBF: 29 FPT: 18 PJC: 1 Total of 77 files, and that is with hidden files shown. I do not find any CDX files. I am using Ver 7.03.0000.
  17. Corrupted Genealogy_e.cdx File

Actually, no. The only file that was added was the Last VFI.txt file, which is just a log of what happened during the VFI. Am I missing something?
  18. Corrupted Genealogy_e.cdx File

Saw the second part of your reply after I sent out my response to the .cdx files. I did the Optimize/VFI and it appears to have worked. Thanks for your input.
  19. Corrupted Genealogy_e.cdx File

I must be missing something. I look into my folder that I set up to hold my project and there are no .cdx files. There are .ACC, .DBF, .FPT and .PCJ file types, along with the "Active Server Document".
  20. Both my wife and I use TMG V7 for our respective family data. The problem is that we do not agree on the formats for many of the customizable options (i.e. sentence structure, sources, etc.). Is there any way that two, or more, individuals can use the same program and have it set up differently for their own use?
  21. More Than One Person Using TMG

    Thanks for your input.
  22. Wordport Spawn Error in Journal Report

Just great. Vista has been out for quite some time now, and Microsoft's new operating release will be out very shortly. Are there ANY workarounds to this problem?
  23. I purchased a new computer recently and it has the newest version of Windows Vista as the operating system. I have a copy of Windows Office 2002 which I installed on the computer with no problem (or so it seems). I installed TMG v7 and imported my database which went fine (or so it seems). My problem is that when I attempt to created a report (such as Descendant Indented Chart) that will be saved as a Word for Windows V8, as I did on my old computer, I get error messages and the file is not created. The report is generated fine if I only want to do a print preview. The errors are: WordPort Spawn Error Conversion error #20: Unknown error - contact tech support Can anyone help here?
  24. I believe I found the answer to my question in the previous topic http://www.whollygenes.com/forums201/index...showtopic=11801. Sorry for not looking through the forum before posting.
  25. Wordport Spawn Error in Journal Report

So if we purchase the new Microsoft Office product it will not solve the problem?
